Why not? Let's try.

The first?unFIX Foundation workshop?(in Munich) got an average rating of?9 out of 10, which is quite encouraging. Last week's first?unFIXcon?(in Berlin) was also well received. They were events worth trying.
One suggestion that emerged in the first workshop was to add a "Why not? Let's try" card to the set of?Voting Options. Initially, I had?Don't Know?and?Don't Care?between the?(Hell) Yes?and?(Hell) No?cards, and I felt reluctant to add another card. But the participants were right when they said that neither Don't Know nor Don't Care captures the positive attitude of Let's Try.
Let's Try (or "I won't fight about it") resonates with my latest thinking about experiments. Through lots of trial and error, I have found that?I fail when my experiments are expensive, risky, or slow.
I have run experiments that cost me a fortune, tried things that nearly cost me my health, and played with projects that took far too long to learn from. In each of these cases, the experiments were not cheap, not safe, and not fast, which means:?failure. No matter the learning.
Not every idea your teammates come up with sounds great. Some ideas are downright stupid. But why would you fight or shrug your shoulders and say, "I don't care," when someone's suggestion sounds like a?cheap,?safe, and?fast?experiment? It might be better to say, "Why not? Let's try."
The only good reason to fight an idea?or veto an experiment is when someone's suggestion is expensive, risky, or slow.
So, I've updated the card set and replaced Don't Care with Won't Fight. The updated set of voting cards is?available in the unFIX community?(free sign-up required).

2 年Very good. One other good reason to fight an idea: "I have a better idea for now". Might even be a correct idea, although often used with foolish ego as an excuse.
