As humans we were given a great brain with tremendous power to do amazing things. Yet, we must not mistake power for efficiency and effectiveness because, operating in its natural mode, the same human brain, mine and yours, are not that smart especially in everyday things. The brain grossly underperformance in thinking in general and in decision making in particular. In fact, the normal human brain running in its unguided, automatic normal mode is bad in making decisions. This powerful super engine that is responsible for all the great things that humans have “created and made” and continue to make is still a novice in intelligent decision-making. Human brains are not all the same in the capacity and abilities for sure, but even those so called super-brains even in decision-making are not 100 percent perfect and accurate in making decisions. The only get away we humans have is that most of the areas where we make bad to terrible decisions are either not life-threatening or critically important. However, the same or poor decisions that our brains make without our conscious guidance have serious impacts in the sense that they make us miss massive opportunities for more success, happiness, achievement and wellbeing and for higher performance and better and sustained results in our personal lives, careers, businesses, in managing the environment, in our political and economic occupations, roles and affairs and our career, professional, occupations and especially our leadership, management, marketing, sales and executive roles.
The Importance of Thinking
Humans have deluded themselves into thinking that knowledge is the driver of performance, achievement and the performance and results that we produce. This is completely misleading. There is no direct relationship between our knowledge and our performance, results and mental experiences. Knowledge is important to use as individuals only when our brain can think about the knowledge intelligently and use it appropriately.

1.?????? Thinking is responsible for our decisions and actions. Knowledge only works if it modifies or influences our thinking. To know is not to think.
2.?????? Thinking, interacting with our emotions, is responsible for what we feel, how we feel and what we don’t feel.
3.?????? Thinking directs our life direction, our focus, our attention, our concentration and our choices and our decisions.
4.?????? Thinking creates and destroys things including human relationships and many of the tangible and intangible, the invisible and the visible.
5.?????? Thinking creates and modified knowledge. In other words, knowledge is a product of thinking. Yet some types of knowledge also influences our thinking but do not control or direct our thinking. Thinking is real-time and original. Knowledge is a collection of thoughts and not thinking itself. I hope I am being clear.
6.?????? Thinking determines our sense of identity. As a man thinks, so he is. Now, many humans have lost their sense of identity because they have replaced their true identity with their knowledge-based educational and professional titles. Know we think we are engineers, scientists, marketers, finance directors and stuff and have lost the bulk of our true thinking-based identity, our being how we think.

1.?????? Our natural human brain is configured to operate unconsciously in 95% only 5% consciously. This means that 95% of our decisions and actions happen without our conscious knowledge and direction.
2.?????? The human brain in designed so that the emotional part of the brain has a huge and overbearing control over the “thinking” ?or “cognitive part of the brain.” The emotional brain controls about 90% of our decisions and actions and our thinking or cognitive part of the brain has no chance once the emotional part of the brain makes the decisions especially when the emotional brain thinks “we are under attack.” The problem is that the emotional brain is not very good at making factual decisions. Infact, the emotional brain rarely uses facts in make decisions. It makes the decisions rapidly fast and triggers action without consulting the “reasoning” part of our the same brain, the cognitive part.
3.?????? Now, most the decisions that we make do not make any rational or logical or factual sense especially in terms of managing risks and opportunities.
4.?????? And, our brain does not always use the knowledge we learn in its decision-making.
5.?????? As much as we think we are in control of our thinking most of the time, the truth is that we are not that much in conscious control.

Most, if not all dangerous and catastrophic decisions arise from the overbearing dominance of the emotional part of the brain and because of our thinking brain sometimes has not been taught how to react and respond to important information situations and also how to deal with the excesses of the emotional part of the brain.
