Complexity is killing businesses and business models.?
Most of the leaders think their business is unique and needs more tailored solutions and custom things to meet every single requirement. In fact, your:
- Convoluted business operations
- Complex systems, and
- Bad user and customer experiences
Rarely can be your competitive advantage. Your product. Your people. And great customer experience driven by streamlined processes and simplicity can and should be.
So why is it time now to take a pause and rethink your Salesforce projects, Salesforce orgs design and setup? Why do you need to simplify complexity and get yourself ready for the next run?
Below, I am sharing what I am hearing from leaders in different industries with complex Salesforce orgs and why they think it’s a good time to get ready for the next big thing.
Market Conditions. When in Doubt, Optimize It
Markets are tough now, and the economy is slowing down.
Despite your efforts to navigate all of this and find the next growth points, cutting costs is a daily consideration.?
And complexity is a cost.?
Think about how much time and effort you spend on building and maintaining your Salesforce projects and solutions. Are you sure you need that much complexity and customization?
In these uncertain times, leaders are betting on optimization and simplification. It helps to:
- Cut costs
- Do more with less
- Stop accumulating technical debt and start eliminating it
Use this economic pause to reassess how much you need and where complexity must be reduced and replaced with more straightforward solutions.
Native is Cheaper Than Custom
It’s fun to build custom things in Salesforce, and sometimes they are necessary.
However, Salesforce is an ever-growing platform with many products and features delivered with each release. Do you track Salesforce releases? Can that custom solution you built a few quarters ago be replaced with something native?
Take some of your custom things and ask the following questions:
领英推è
- Can we replace it with a native tool/feature, at least something somewhat close?
- Is Salesforce releasing something similar in the near future?
- How do others solve the same problem with native tools?
Start moving to native features where possible and keep track of releases, intentionally looking for ways to optimize.
Get Ready for The Next Tech Wave
Technology is unstoppable, and so should you be.
Here are just a few technologies disrupting the CRM market now:
- AI
- Advanced Data Management (CDP, etc.)
- Predictive Analytics
Complexity does not play well when catching up with and implementing these new technologies. It’s difficult and expensive to integrate something new into a technically complex and convoluted Salesforce org, not to mention the costs, benefits, and adoption of the new technology.
Time flies fast, and what may seem like a hipe or a trend today could be a game changer tomorrow.
Readiness is a preparation at scale.
Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple" - Steve Jobs.
Success is the sum of small efforts
I believe that by reading this far, you already have a few places in mind where you should be looking to assess the complexity and see what you should do about it.
We are all humans, and it’s natural for us to build complex things.
But that doesn’t mean you cannot change and make them better. And now it's a perfect time.
