There are a LOT of people that I don't agree with in the world.
Often there are ideas that I hear that I not only vehemently disagree with, but which I also believe are extremely dangerous.
However, even if I know there is someone who I disagree with I will still listen to what they have to say.
Why is this?
The common advice you hear in the world is that if there is someone you KNOW is wrong, to disassociate from them completely.
However, I have found that when you listen to the people you know are wrong, there are many benefits that you can gain.
This does not mean you have to accept their point of view of course.
But when we really listen to other points of view you can become a significantly better Leader.
? Increase EQ
It's easy to handle ourselves emotionally when we are in our comfort zone, but how do you fair when outside it?
By listening to opposing points of view, you can test yourself and see how your own emotions come out in these situations.
Also, when you really listen to what they have to say, instead of judging immediately, this is a key skill of high EQ individuals.
? Understand Issues More Deeply
Most of the time, people's motivations are good.

There is a root to most issues that are real problems.
We may not always have the best solutions to those issues, but if we judge the solutions too quickly we often miss the true issues.
When we actually listen though, we can begin to see where the issues truly are, and we might be able to come to better solutions by knowing this.
? Build Your Ideas
Often, we think our ideas are the best because we thought of them.
However, if these ideas are untested, they may actually not be as great as we imagine.
When we listen to opposing ideas though, often we come across new ideas we wouldn't have thought of on our own.
With this in mind, we can actually make our ideas more bulletproof in ways that can truly benefit more people.
? Spark Creativity
In the same thread of thinking, opposing ideas force us to think in new, different ways.
This is a pathway to new creative ideas.
The more new inputs we put into our minds, the more creative we become.
This further goes into fueling more Flow States, which is where we feel our best and do our best work.
