We learn to read and write at a very young age, as well as subjects like social studies, science, math, and several languages. Unfortunately, we do not learn the fundamentals of emotional intelligence (EI), which is the power to use the knowledge our emotions provide in an efficient and meaningful manner and to respond correctly to daily challenges.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
People that are emotionally intelligent are more self-aware, better at controlling their behaviour, and more empathic. A higher emotional intelligence can also help individuals in better stress management, better relationships, more successful careers, and overall fulfillment. These characteristics and soft skills are essential components of effective leadership abilities.
Developing emotional intelligence involves becoming more emotionally aware of both your own emotions and other's. People with high levels of emotional intelligence are able to identify and control their own emotions while also being conscious of and taking into account the sentiments of others. Being aware of your energy discharge and how other people react to you is a good indicator of your EI.
?According to experts in human resources, while a high IQ may help someone get a job, a high EQ will help them grow. Your mood, your work ethic, your communication, your ability to handle conflict, and your ability to handle stress all depend on your emotional intelligence skills.
?The business world is the same approach. Companies seem to believe that employees are aware of appropriate workplace etiquette. They presume that staff members are born with an inherent understanding of the value of being prompt, taking initiative, being sociable, thinking clearly under stress, and achieving higher work.
Why is emotional quotient crucial for leaders? In addition to the fact that having a high EI is a Strong ?predictor of success, it is crucial to have this skill if you want to be an effective and efficient leader because it can have an impact on a number of various aspects of your leadership role. A huge advantage in creating a great team is being able to connect behavioural and emotional intelligence challenges to job success.
?In today's world, effective leadership is all about fueling others' enthusiasm and encouraging them to action. Along with boosting efficiency, this helps in attracting and keeping top people. How then can we train individuals to be passionate, inspiring, and motivated? This is accomplished by developing the ability to lead with emotional intelligence.
Being a great leader requires having emotional intelligence since it helps overcome communication problems that are undesirable for any team or group. Communication problems occur when people in leadership positions lack emotional intelligence. Team members are not heard, leaders are unable to respond to individual needs, and communications get lost in the midst of the turmoil.
?Effective leaders are able to influence others by grasping their needs and responding to those needs, not from their own emotions but rather from self-awareness. For example, they would ask themselves, "How are my verbal and nonverbal communication methods affecting my team? ”
?The 3 major emotional intelligence competencies you must develop and strengthen to be a successful leader are given below.

?SELF AWARENESS
You must be able to create a favorable work environment because that is one of your main responsibilities as a leader. Self-management skills comprise maintaining calm and focus in demanding and challenging situations. This is another another essential quality that all leaders should possess.
When things get difficult and chaotic, it's important to maintain your calm and control. Otherwise, your team members can pick up on your energy and project the same disorder dynamic. Remember that when people see you as the leader of the pack, they look to you for indications on how to behave and how to respond, therefore a lack of self-control will ultimately have a huge negative impact on your workplace.
?SOCIAL AWARENESS
Being socially conscious allows one to demonstrate compassion. Even though they are closely connected, compassion and empathy have different personalities. Empathy is the capacity to understand such sentiments and value them as if they were your own, or putting yourself in another's?shoes. Compassion is the capacity to express concern with one's suffering or needs.
?In any leadership position, compassion and empathy must be practiced. It creates a connection of trust between you, the leader, and the followers you are attempting to influence; trust in a group improves your interpersonal and teamwork relationships, putting you in a position of strength.
?BE IN GOOD CONNECTION WITH OTHERS
Leaders that are emotionally sophisticated manage their relationships well. They have the capacity to build and nurture relationships both inside and outside of their jobs. Conflicts will always arise. But how do you control them? Do you have a tendency to lose your cool and make things worse? Or do you approach situations with an attempt to solve them and make them into something positive? If you fall into the latter category, you are progressing in your development of emotional intelligence. Conflicts will definitely arise, and effective leaders are aware of this. The team as a whole, however, gains from these leaders' ability to see past minor problems and transform them into positive experiences.
?Keeping this in mind, keep in mind that you are leading individuals in your organization, and people have feelings. In the end, this means that in order for employees to create high-quality work, you must also manage their emotions. You are on the path to sharpening your leadership abilities by raising your emotional intelligence through the application of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship maintenance.
