Are you a lash stylist who performs eyelash extensions?
If so, you know how important it is to provide your clients with beautiful, healthy-looking lashes. However, if you're experiencing white residue on your clients' extensions, it's crucial to understand the possible causes and take action to address the issue.
"Blooming"
One of the most common causes of white residue is blooming, which can occur when the adhesive reacts with moisture in the air. This creates a powdery substance on the surface of the glue and can happen when the adhesive is applied too thickly or exposed to excessive humidity.
Precipitate
Another possible cause is precipitate or also called "shocked polymerization" - coming into contact with a high level of moisture. This especially happens when tearing occurs during the application process and makes the adhesive wet, leading to residue on the lashes. Proper cleaning and rinsing with saline solution can prevent residue, but if the white residue is accompanied by itching or redness, it may be a sign of eyelash mites. Seeking professional help is crucial if you suspect this may be the issue.
Do you use a nano mister?
If you’re going to use a nano mister make sure you’re holding it at least a foot away from the lashes so that they get a light layer of increased humidity around them, rather than actual water droplets.
