Why Journaling?

With the New Year upon us, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk journaling. I am constantly blown away by the reception the Ease & Flow Journal has received, both by women new to journaling and by women who have been doing the work for some time. Trust me when I say this is nothing like your middle-school diary days. If your journaling experience has only consisted of dollar-store notebooks with the flimsy lock and key and pages of X’s and O’s, I encourage you to revisit it as an adult - a time in our lives where it would be the most beneficial.

As many of you know, the Ease & Flow Journal came from a life-changing experience. Over a year ago, my husband suffered a traumatic brain injury while at work. Our entire lives changed instantly. He was hospitalized and has undergone several brain operations, and is still in and out of the hospital to this day. It’s been a journey for sure. And still, I am so grateful for that experience. It forced me to stop running on the hamster wheel and be more intentional and purposeful with my work. I chose to become my husband’s full-time caregiver, and it was then the idea for this journal came to me.

In my days, weeks, and months living in a hospital room, I learned how therapeutic writing was for me. I wrote everywhere, on pieces of paper, journals, little notepads the nurses would pass my way – anywhere I could keep my to-dos and thoughts down. They helped me recall experiences and information I wouldn’t have been able to process. Now knowing what I know, I was suffering from serious shock and PTSD, and I would not be able to remember much of my time in the hospital without those writings. They also serve as a way for me to reflect back on not just all that’s happened, but how far we’ve come.

The Ease & Flow Journal has helped me, and a countless number of women, immensely. Pick up your copy at SophiaCasey.net
