We’re living in a time when there has never been more distractions. It is so easy to go on auto-pilot, tune into our phone or social media, and zone out on what’s important to us. Do you regularly find yourself easily distracted or not focused on the things that are important to you? If so, you’re in good company.
All of us engage in distraction at one time or another, but if you find you’re checked out all of the time, it might be time to examine why. Is it because you’re stressed and simply looking for a quick escape, or is it because you’re running from a difficult situation or uncomfortable emotions??
While distractions can provide temporary entertainment or relief from boredom, relying on them excessively can hinder personal growth, productivity, and overall well-being. I know this well.?
The last few months I have found myself really struggling with staying focused on my “why.” There are good reasons for it. After I published Show Your Work, the book I co-authored with a few other ambitious women, I went into a kind of frenzied overdrive in trying to plan for my next goal. On the face of it, this isn’t a bad thing, but I was spreading myself too thin, trying a little bit of this and doing a little bit of that. I started losing sight and questioning everything. I lost my “why.”?
