When you created your company, it was (and still is) because of YOUR vision of how YOU wanted things to be. Your company is the manifestation of your ideas because you wanted to do things differently?
If this isn’t the case, then why are you working for yourself and not just working in a traditional job helping to create someone else’s fortune??
How you convey how what you do helps your clients is the most important aspect of any pitch - long or small.
As an Independent Business Owner, no matter what size your company is, it is YOU who people want to get to know. Potential Clients want to get to know more about YOU as a person as much as they will want to know about the services you offer. They need to know if they can TRUST YOU, what makes you different from other suppliers in your field and if you can really deliver a solution to their problems or issues.
This is why it is most important that YOU talk about YOUR BUSINESS more than anyone else – even your staff, if you have any. Only YOU can really convey to people your knowledge and passion for what you do. This is why it is important to be able to talk about your business at any opportunity you get. This is why being confident at delivering Business Presentation, from your 60 Seconds to a full 30 minute, is a very important part of your Marketing mix!
Buying from a large brand company, we know what to expect but don't always receive it. However, that impacts how people view the quality and level of services that Independent Business Owners can provide so we have to really deliver not only a great service to clients but also be about to convey how our services and products really help our clients. The best ways to convey that is not only in powerful targeted marketing but also in the words we use in any Presentation.
Independent Businesses will often create innovative products or deliver their services in a unique way. How we communicate this to potential clients is crucial to our success and longevity in business but if you have never been guided or shown how to create and deliver a great talk to help you convey that message, all your efforts can be for nothing because you don't engage or deliver with enthusiasm or passion.
What we, as independent business owners, are able to offer is the flexibility to say YES! to a wide range of requests from customers. Many new innovative services & products have been created because someone said yes to an opportunity to deliver something new and help their customer, even though it may have only been one product that the start.?
We need to celebrate this fact and demonstrate our versatility much more than we do and we should start reflecting this versatility in what we say when we talk about what we do!

I have seen many people fail to make the most of these opportunities because they really don’t understand the power of words and consequently, I have seen them lose business because the opportunity was missed. Quite frankly it breaks my heart to see people who are, quite rightly, proud and passionate about their business, fail to promote themselves effectively, because they don’t understand the importance of talking about their business properly.?
The ability to talk about and present your business for longer than just 60 Seconds is so important because for most of us, there is no way we can inform people about the full range of what we do in just one minute
Which is why I created my Boost Your Confidence and Presentations Skills Programmes to help as many business owners as possible to be able to present their business with great confidence any time, any where, not just for 60 Seconds but for 10 minutes and more.
Our one minute slot (often now being reduced to just 30 Seconds!) can only be the very briefest of headlines and must be used as a hook to get people talking with you in more detail how you can help them solve their problems or overcome their challenges in order for them to grow their business.
Why wouldn’t you WANT to talk about your business in more detail?
Yes, you can do this in a 1-2-1, but that is just talking to one person at a time. You need to be confident enough and able to talk to a room full of people to maximize our opportunities – you never know where your next great client or referral is coming from!
Each of my clients are unique in their perspective and challenges, although they all have one thing in common – a fear of public speaking in some form or another, which holds them back from maximising their opportunities and I find that working on the reason behind their fear is the main focus of my work.
