Why Now is the Right Time for a Business Owner to Retire

2019 – it is a sellers’ market; plain and simple.

Seller confidence has never been higher in four of five market sectors, according to 271 business brokers and M&A Advisors, surveyed in the latest national IBBA/M&A Source Market Pulse Survey by Pepperdine University.

That’s great news for Business Owners who’ve been thinking about retirement as most would probably be interested in knowing how to take advantage of this current selling environment.

The reason Seller confidence is so high is because of the strong economic outlook. The economy is doing very well and projected to continue that way. Plus, demand is beating supply, meaning there aren’t enough quality Businesses for sale to meet demands from Buyers. This is especially true for higher value Businesses.

Florida is a haven for winter-weary people up North, who, tired of the snow, want to move to Florida and buy themselves a Business.

And finally, the Federal Reserve is expected to hike interests again and Buyers are working to beat the clock to borrow money at a lower interest rate.

What does this all mean for you?

Well, it means that at the negotiation table, Buyers will have to pay a premium to beat their competition to acquire a new Business. It also means more money for the Seller.

Timing is always, everything.

As a Business Broker with Keller Williams Commercial, in the greater Tampabay area, a member of the Business Brokers of Florida (BBF) and also a member of the International Business Brokers Association, (IBBA), I would be happy to provide you with some experienced insight about Business owners looking to retire.
