Today, I achieved something I never thought would feel so rewarding—I told a story to my daughter’s school class. A task that seemed small in the grand scheme of things turned out to be a memorable milestone, one that left me brimming with joy and pride.
The journey wasn’t smooth. I had grand plans to dress up as a Mickey Mouse mascot to make the story extra exciting. But when the costume rental fell through, I pivoted to Plan B—a Peppa Pig puppet book. I prepped by listening to Peppa Pig short stories on YouTube, practicing my tone and pace to suit little ears.
Despite arriving 10 minutes late (typical me), I decided to cast my nerves aside. When I entered the classroom, I asked the kids, “Can you give me confidence to tell this story?” Their excitement was heartwarming. They cheered, helped pass the pages, and made me feel like a superstar. The group hug at the end? Pure magic.
This small win reminded me why it’s essential to celebrate even the tiniest achievements. Life is full of challenges, big and small, but these little victories build confidence, bring joy, and remind us of the beauty in simple things.
Today, I proudly add “Storytelling Certificate,” signed by my daughter’s 5-year-old classmates, to my list of accomplishments. It’s a small, cute recognition that means the world to me.
So, here’s a gentle reminder: celebrate your small wins. They are the stepping stones to bigger dreams.
