WHY ISN’T GOD LISTENING TO ME

WHY ISN’T GOD LISTENING TO ME

A couple of years back, I visited a mall for some shopping. There was a service road between that mall and the main road. It was a monsoon season. When I came out of the mall after shopping, I found the service road submerged in water. It had rained heavily while I was inside the mall. Shoppers, including me, were in a shock as it was tough for us to reach the main road, where our cars were parked. Suddenly I saw few Rikshaw-pullers approaching us by helping us to cross the service road @100 INR for each turn. In fact, we were happy to shed that amount, to save ourselves from drenching into the water. They earned few thousand rupees in just a couple of hours.

During Covid outbreak, many people lost lives. It was one of the major global outbreaks in the human history. When in one hand it was disaster for some, at the same time it was a source of income and success for others. Pharmaceutical sector did very well, so did the IT sector. Pfizer made billions of dollars and E-learning got a boost. Many individuals became millionaires and many firms earned through innovations. Ask a person who lost his/her dear ones and they will definitely say that Covid was a curse, as opposed to those who will say that it was a blessing.

Whenever I mention stories or episodes in my articles, these are true stories and incidences. But then sometimes we hear stories from our elders, those could be true or fictitious, but we do learn many things from those stories. One such story goes like this. A man used to pray and invoke Almighty to increase his business. Day and night, he used to pray loudly and very affectionately. Whosoever was passing by him, was at least having a feeling in the heart and asking God to increase his business. One day a person stopped by and asked him about his business and was shocked to know that he deals with items related to funeral.

When we are comfortably sitting at home, we ask for rains. And when get stuck on the roads because of rains, we pray to Almighty to stop rains. When we go for an interview, we pray a lot to get that job. If I will get the job, what are others going to get. Aren’t they praying for the same job. Isn’t a person at Tyre shop praying to get more punctured tyres, isn’t a mechanic waiting and praying for getting more and more business, aren’t doctors waiting for more and more patients, aren’t chemists and pharmaceutical companies waiting for disease seasons?

As soon as we are finished with buying a house, we set our target for another new one or another bigger house. When we buy a car, within a day we get a desire to get more expensive car. And we keep on asking more from the God. Since last two days I am seeing two elderly homeless couples sleeping under the flyover. This flyover is just behind the guest house where I am staying right now. I have an AC in my room, a Dunlop mattress, a television, a washroom and many other things in my room. I even don’t know whether those four elderly persons have had their dinner or not.

There could be arguments from atheists, could be arguments from very kindhearted people, could be arguments from religious people, and there could be counter arguments as well. And I don’t want to indulge into that. After summarizing few of these incidences, at lease, to a great extent, I got the answer to my question “Why God isn’t listening to me?

Let me close this short article with a very famous stanza

“TAQDEER BANANA WALE TU NA KAMEE NA KEE,

BAQI KIS KO KYA MILA YEH TO MUQADAR KI BAAT HAI”
