So you ask yourself, “Why isn’t anyone coming to my website?” Is it the design? The content? Something configured wrong with the HTML?
Asking this question is an important step if you want your website to work harder for you. Simply having one doesn’t mean you will get traffic or conversions. You must optimize it in a variety of areas to gain the attention and business of site visitors.
The good news is that you can identify why people aren’t coming to your website. Some of the possible reasons are poor SEO, slow page loads, poor usability/design, and poor content. This post will introduce you to 4 reasons, but be aware that there are others.
Are you ready to learn why people aren’t coming to your website?
Reason #1 – Poor Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
If people aren’t coming to your website, it could be because your website has poor SEO. This makes a critical difference in it’s effectiveness. SEO is all about improving your website to receive traffic from search engines.
It’s important to understand that SEO is directly related to the quality of your content. If you provide quality content that is relevant, you are much more likely to engage visitors.
But adding great content without optimization isn’t enough. You must prepare it for search engines using a variety of techniques. Some of these include on-page SEO, XML sitemaps, and proper keyword usage.
And this optimization isn’t a once and done type of thing. You must work on it regularly as you update content and as SEO techniques adapt to changes. It’s best to make SEO a habit. There will be initial setup work. But a consistent SEO strategy will improve site visits and engagement.
