Why Integrate MuleSoft with Salesforce? + Impact on Agentforce

I came across an interesting stat recently: the average organization uses 991 apps! That’s a massive number, but here’s what really surprised me—only 28% of those apps are actually integrated. This creates data silos, a challenge that affects 34% of IT leaders and brings a lot of headaches.?

I’m guessing this problem is part of why Salesforce acquired MuleSoft back in 2018, as it’s become a go-to solution for breaking down those silos. But what are the real benefits of this integration? Let’s take a look.?

?

What Are Data Silos???

First let's see what data silos are. This refers to an IT problem that consists of information stuck in isolated systems. Basically, with so many apps being used at the same time in the same business ecosystem, it is common for some of them to be isolated from the rest of the system. This way, valuable data remains inaccessible, leading you to lose some vital insights from your organization.???

Why Is Salesforce Integration with MuleSoft so Important???

Then, why is this integration so important? Well, while Salesforce is a powerful CRM, organizations have multiple systems for managing their business. That’s where MuleSoft powerful integration tools (like Composer) enter into action.???

With them, you can automate the process of linking systems that would otherwise remain disconnected. This way, you can create the smooth information flow across departments you need to ensure that all teams have the information they, both saving time and avoiding human error factors in the data sharing process.????

What Are the Benefits of Integrating Salesforce and MuleSoft???

  • Cost & resource efficiency??

  • Future-proof solutions??

Enables businesses to easily scale their operations by expanding to new markets, integrating new units, or adopting emerging technologies (e.g. AI agents).????

?

Beyond its benefits, you must keep your business goals in mind before embarking on a digital transformation process. This implies having an overview of your business needs and finding the right talents, which is not easy. But don't worry, at Inclusion Cloud we can help you. Let's meet and find the integration solutions you need.??

How Does the MuleSoft & Salesforce Integration Benefit Agentforce AI Agents???

For autonomous AI agents, like those in Agentforce, having accurate and real-time data is key. Without it, their performance can be limited by isolated data sources. This is where the Salesforce and MuleSoft integration steps in, creating a seamless data flow that helps these AI agents deliver smarter, more personalized services.?

Of course, there are some concerns—these agents operate more independently than chatbots, making them potentially vulnerable to cyber-attacks. If you’re interested, Inclusion Cloud ’s latest article covers this and other ethical questions around Agentforce AI.?

?

But I’d love to hear from you: Would you implement this integration strategy in your own business? And how do you feel about the rise of autonomous AI agents? Drop your thoughts in the comments! And don’t forget to follow Inclusion Cloud for more updates!?

Great point about the challenge of app fragmentation. With 991 apps in use on average, it's easy to see how integration becomes a bottleneck.

Thanks for sharing Mariano! No doubt, when a company has tons of apps that aren’t integrated, it creates a bunch of redundancies and, above all, adds to the manual work needed to get value from the data.
