I'm thrilled to co-host a fundraiser for Randall Woodfin for mayor of Birmingham, Alabama on Monday, July 10 from 6-8PM at the new WeWork Apollo at 810 7th St. NE in Washington D.C.
Now, I don't know Birmingham, Alabama that well. I've been a couple times. But I do know Randall Woodfin well. I've known him for a very long time. I met Randall at Morehouse College, where he was involved in the Student Government Association before eventually becoming SGA President. Randall was always thoughtful. He was a leader. He was to my mind, country as all get out. And behind his deep Alabama drawl, his words were always kind, they were always intelligent, and they were always backed with fact. This was Randall, Joe, and me at Morehouse's homecoming in 2006. Check out his sweater.
Randall's platform embraces the same issues I care about in Washington D.C. , and throughout the country. You can read more from the Candidate himself:
Supporting Birmingham’s Minority and Women-Owned Businesses
Investing in Birmingham's Children
Investing in Birmingham’s Transportation Infrastructure
An Opportunity Agenda for Birmingham Residents and Businesses
Revitalizing Our Neighborhoods
Making Neighborhoods Safe and Secure
I believe in the platform. More importantly, I've seen Randall at work, and I believe he'll be effective in implementing his platform.
So while I don't know Birmingham that well, I'm supporting Randall because I know him well. And I know that he's the kind of young leader our country needs to develop. His voice is one that will be needed, not just in Birmingham, not just in Alabama, but in these United States. I'm thrilled to co-host a fundraiser for Candidate Woodfin Monday, July 10 from 6-8PM at the new WeWork Apollo at 810 7th St. NE, Washington D.C.
As a man who puts his money where his mouth is, I will match donations to his campaign up to an aggregate of $500. If you're unable to make the event, please donate here:
