Why I'm suddenly so much more grateful.

In early December I noticed a pimple on my upper chest. By the time I got to see a specialist on December 20th, it was the size of a quarter and looked like a mushroom.
He immediately diagnosed it as skin cancer. They're called "Ferrari" tumors because they grow so fast. He referred me to a surgeon on an urgent basis to have it excised asap.
Hearing cancer and tumor in the same sentence gets your attention. Suffice to say, the holiday season was a little more subdued than usual, and it wasn't due to the lockdown.
On January 12th the growth was removed. Last week I got the lab results. It was confirmed to be carcinoma, a fast-growing cancer, which has been completely eliminated.
I've done a lot of reflecting over the last few days. I find I'm much more grateful for the little things and the important people around me that I have been taking for granted.
This week's tip: Life is short. Health is fragile. Be more grateful. Your life can change dramatically with one sentence.
SPECIAL NOTE: You may feel like sending me a note or writing me a comment with kind words. That's not what this is about. Instead, think of someone in your life you're grateful for and let them know today.

4 年Good on you, Michael, for taking action quickly. One month before Christmas, I lost someone very close and dear to me to cancer - still in the prime of her life. It certainly does make one grateful for what we have, especially good health. Thank you for sharing, Michael. We get so caught up in the busy-ness of everyday and these reminders are important. Stay well!

4 年I'm going to send you one of those nice notes anyway my friend. I recently lost a very dear friend suddenly, and it makes you re-evaluate things a bit. My commitment to her was to tell my people how much I adore them. This message matters, thank you for sharing it. Be well, and keep bringing us your unique flavour of awesome.
