Why I'm speaking up for inclusion

It was a pleasure to share a CEO experience at my office with Aiza Abid, a talented and passionate student and future leader. Aiza served as RBC’s CEO for the Day on Wednesday as part of Plan International Canada’s “Girls Belong Here” program.

As a gender equality and inclusion champion and the founder of a non-profit that helps children and women in need across the world, she shared some amazing perspectives with me. Our conversations, yet again, underscored how essential it is for organizations to tap into the potential and perspectives of young people.

Emerging young leaders like Aiza possess skills that are critical for today’s organizations. They are able to make an immediate impact in the organizations they join. And they should not be undervalued.

At RBC, I’m continually inspired by students and new grads who inject innovative thinking into our bank and tackle some of the most pressing business challenges we have alongside our existing teams. That’s why preparing young for the future of work, and finding ways to unlock their talent early into their careers, is core to our purpose to help clients thrive and communities prosper.

The generation heading into the workforce today will not only tackle the challenge of our economic competitiveness, but also pressing social challenges across the environment, health and more. We owe it to our youth to change the way we prepare them for success and build stronger bridges between our workplaces and our classrooms.

The main reason I joined LinkedIn was so I could get a message to one of the most important people at Dave McKay?at RBC because I have an ISSUE that needs to be resolved ASAP and Dave you need to read as soon as possible! I added Rod Bolger, and Graeme Hepworth, and I think this is something you need to hear from me first! I'm just trying to save a whole lot of process! So RBC I would definitely recommend getting this message to one of those people, so I don't have to escalate this issue another way! Remember to tell all your members and shareholders I, reached out to the President, CFO, and Chief Risk Officer FIRST, before anything else! Thanks for reading this message if you did, and if you didn't than it's going to be something that could of been prevented! I just wanted to come here where I can say i brought it to the management team first! #rbc?
