Why I’m Running for SOA President
Putting myself out there has never really been an issue of mine. Whether it’s on social media, in meetings, or volunteering, I’ve always felt compelled to “raise my hand” during my 25-year career.
On the surface, I can see how it might be perceived as self-promotional – and believe me, I appreciate and chuckle when people introduce themselves to me at a conference or even in an airport and mention they’ve seen or heard my name before.?
But believe me, it’s not about me becoming an actuary influencer! The truth is, the reason I proactively look to engage with our community so much is not to influence, but rather, to advocate. That’s at the heart of why I’m asking for colleagues and friends across the industry to support my candidacy for SOA President and enable me to continue serving you all and the profession that I’m so passionate about.
I began my SOA volunteering journey 15 years ago and, in that time, have had the honor of serving on the board from 2018-2021, as a member of the SOA Health Section Council (2015-2016) and Research Committee (2014-2018), and as a coordinator of more than 45 sessions at SOA events, four of which received Outstand Session Awards.
I’ve had the honor of being named Volunteer of the Year in 2017 and receiving the Presidential Award in 2022 – but now, I’m looking to earn the role of President.?

Perhaps more important than any professional qualifications I’ve picked up in 25+ years, however, is the genuine care and desire I have to leave this profession better than I found it. That’s the north star that has always guided me and always will.
At a time in my life and career when I’m at the “peak of my powers,” I believe I’m uniquely situated to take on this responsibility and collaboratively lead us toward the next phase of our profession. Meaningful impact is something we all strive to achieve. For me, there’s no greater next step in that journey than becoming SOA President.
