Why I'm Joining Omnea

Almost a decade ago (time flies!), Ben Freeman , Sabrina Castiglione , and I set about building at Tessian together. Together, we navigated everything from setting up our first event booth to successfully forecasting and executing our first $1mm year (and then quarter!) — all while executing through the evolving expectations at each milestone / fundraise from some incredible investors like Accel, Balderton, and Sequoia.

For the past 2.5 years, Ben has been building Omnea and assembling a wonderful team. I’ve had the privilege of supporting this journey as an angel investor and advisor, and now the stars have aligned for the 3 of us to team up full-time again with our incredible new teammates!

I did not take this decision lightly. I was enjoying my last role and had to cut the journey short. Ultimately, if I had to distill my rationale, two things stood out: Team and Product.

Team

The most remarkable environments exhibit two clear traits: quiet self-confidence and deep humility. Together, these traits create a magical combination where people have strong ideas but remain open to intellectual honesty and debate. This allows a team’s energy to focus on problem-solving and execution rather than being hindered by arrogance or a fixed mindset. This ethos is embedded in Omnea’s DNA: without exception, every single person I’ve met at Omnea embodies humility, confidence, and a non-negotiable bias to action. I’m inspired and proud to join such a dedicated team.

One of the many things I admire about Ben is his strong belief that a team is the greatest force multiplier within a company. This is fundamentally why I believe Omnea will succeed — exceptional people build outstanding products, foster strong relationships, and scale enduring businesses. They can consistently achieve the statistically improbable, creating value at an unprecedented speed.

The beauty of teams like this is that they are forged with traits that create entrepreneurs in all their forms. Our team is now made up of people who have built their careers by being trusted to deliver and empowered by those around them. We believe it’s our duty to make Omnea the place where the next wave of incredible leaders are made. We want our company to be the place where people go to make their careers; a springboard for the most ambitious, hard-working and bright people.

Product

Throughout my scale-up journeys, I’ve consistently experienced inefficient procurement processes. I’ve managed sales teams where these have slowed down or even killed deals. And as a leader, I’ve seen so much money wasted on sales tooling and suppliers: whether it manifests through overpayment, a missed renewal, and/or something we never needed in the first place.

I’m not alone here - leaders everywhere constantly worry about overlapping tools (for both productivity and spend), managing increased governance and risk management pressures (especially with the proliferation of AI tools!), and ensuring that costs do not spiral out of control. The solutions to help with this are often outdated or cobbled together, failing to meet the needs of modern, decentralized buying processes.

This is a problem we are determined to solve alongside our incredible customers, partners, and colleagues. We’ve been building an all-in-one platform for spend control, enabling companies to manage their purchases, renewals, and supplier relationships from one consolidated place.
