Why i'm not giving up on our planet

Recently i've had a few setbacks and I have become disheartened with what is happening around the world, but it is important to stay focused on our vision to make things better (Especially when that evolves around supporting people and other animals). I know

I have been working within this movement for over 10 years now and decided to write down some of my thoughts. Here's a few points I wrote to explain why I continue to fight to protect our planet:

  1. It's not about me (It's about us). Sometimes it's important to remind yourself that this is much bigger than any one individual and that we are not alone in the fight to protect our planet. There's many people out there that are working tirelessly to protect rainforests, restore coral or support indigenous communities. I have food, access to clean water and a place to sleep tonight, many people do not and that alone is enough to inspire me to continue this work. If I feel tired or fed up it can help to be reminded why I started on this journey.

2. We need more people, yesterday.

The reality is that the Amazon is being cut down (at a rate of 234.8 ha per hour) and the oceans are being depleted & that not enough cooperates, individual's or organisations are focusing on creating sustainable solutions to support nature. There's enough people that dream of having a Lamborghini or a 10 bedroom house. I accepted as a teenager that this isn't me, so why not pursue something that I consider to be more worthwhile? (& try to help others on their journey to do good).

I have a very specific and vivid memory from when I was at college (age 17?). I was feeling frustrated, lost and suffering with mental health issues while walking home and suddenly had a memory to when I felt happy; it was when I was helping others. This feeling stuck with me and I continued to try chase this feeling.

3. Nature is incredible.

To be honest, there's not too much that excites me that doesn't relate to sustainability - my diet, passions, work and lifestyle mostly include nature in some way. There's something so peaceful about being by the beach or finding a new species in the Amazon that i've never seen before and taking a photograph. Nature inspires me to continue to make sure that current and future generations are able to experience/see this beauty.

What are the reasons that you continue to fight for a better climate?
