Why I'm ditching video content in 2025.

Why I'm ditching video content in 2025.

Hey?Pod Pals!

This?newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday?morning at?9:51am CST.?

We had a great Christmas day yesterday and I'm ready to put in a full day of work here today before taking off for the remainder of the month!?

This week's topic is going to be a major focus point for me and this brand in 2025 so let's dive into it!

?

???This week we are going to talk about why I have decided to ditch video content in 2025.

One thing I know for SURE is that I may be the ONLY "influencer" in the podcasting community that is talking about doing this.....and that is kinda why I'm doing it.

I don't know about you, but I have most certainly felt a TON of pressure ramping up about creating video content. I hear things like:

?? "If you aren't creating video is it even a real podcast?"

???"Audio only podcasts are dead!"

???"All the growth is coming from Youtube!"

So with this week's newsletter I wanted to explain why I'm going the opposite direction compared to most of the podcasting experts and spending a LOT less time on creating video based content.

?? Reason #1: I want to prove that it can be done. Honestly, it almost feels like podcasters are being bullied and peer pressured into feeling like we have to spend a ton of time creating video based content or we don't get to be in the "Real Podcasters Club".

I pretty much stopped creating any new video content in mid 2024 and things have gone really well.

I've had my best financial year as an online business owner, my listenership is growing steadily, and my listener to client conversion rates are GREAT!

So, for me, I'm going to just keep doing what I've been doing, but the difference is that in 2025 I'm going to take you along for the ride in case you want to join me in throttling back on video content.

???Reason #2: I'm not seeing the ROI for time spent creating video assets.

I can spend between 20-40 minutes dancing around pointing at pretend text to make an IG Reel or a Tiktok video and get a few "likes" and maybe a couple hundred views.?

I can spend that same amount of time just replying to other people's posts on Threads and get new followers, new podcast listeners, and new clients.

It takes me a couple of minutes (if that) to create a text based post on Threads. Even with the help of A.I. it will take two to three times that amount of time to create a social media post anywhere else.?

I also know that many of you are taking Youtube very seriously and you are spending HOURS editing your videos. I have a friend that has over 100K Youtube subscribers and he spends up to six hours editing a 15 minute video.?

I'm seeing a lot of new podcasters launch a show and then quickly burn out and quit because of the "time" it all takes. When I find out the specifics they are spending a giant amount of time editing video content....with very little ROI.?

???Reason #3: Audio is still more efficient for multi-tasking while consuming content.?

The main superpower of an audio podcast is that people can be out doing other things while they are consuming the content.

I'm getting ready to drive for 12 hours to get to Florida tomorrow......and I will be binging on podcast audio the entire way!?

?? So here's the deal Pod Pals: You don't have to follow my lead on this and throttle back on video content. If you love that kind of content creation and you are seeing an ROI on your time and effort then keep doing what is working!

Now, if you are a podcaster that is struggling to get your content out and not enjoying the process anymore.....AND thinking about quitting....then I just want to open this door as a possibility for you to walk through in the future.?

In 2025 I'm going to focus on creating content that I LOVE creating:

?? Podcast audio content.

?? Newsletter written content.

?? Threads app written content.?

?? Podcast listener question of the week:

This week our question is from?Aicila from the?Business As Unusual podcast.

Here is Aicila's question: "Adam what did you resist early on in your podcasting journey that you totally embrace now?"

Great question Aicila! Early on, like most podcasters, I was ultra focused on monetizing my show with sponsors. I didn't necessarily "resist" other ideas for monetization, I just didn't realize that those other options existed....LOL!?

Now, I get approached by sponsors on a fairly regular basis and I gain great pleasure in telling them that I do NOT accept sponsors because I earn a LOT more income by promoting my own programs products and services!

If you would like to submit a question for me to answer in this newsletter and maybe even on my podcast here is how to do it:

1. Use my Speakpipe link to record 90 seconds or less of audio.

2. Use this template: "Hi this is (YOUR NAME) from (YOUR PODCAST NAME). My question for Adam is (ASK YOUR QUESTION)."

?

???Podcast?Launch Tip?of the week:

A poorly named podcast will be the number ONE reason why your show doesn't grow and your ideal listeners won't be able to find you.

Most new podcasters get ultra creative with the name of their show when instead they need to be ultra STRATEGIC.

The creativity comes when you are creating content....and nobody will find your content if you don't get strategic with optimizing your podcast name.

If you want to avoid this podcasting newbie mistake you need to use my Perfect Podcast Naming Formula

?? I reveal the entire formula for FREE in?episode 071 of Podcast Launch Tips.

??Upcoming Events??

Here are a few upcoming events that I will be either hosting or speaking at:

Content Entrepreneur Expo: August 24-26th in Cleveland, Ohio. I've just accepted an invite to speak at CEX for the second year in a row. This is an amazing event for content creators and entrepreneurs. I hope to see you there!

?

?? Client?testimonial of the week:?My client?Esther?has a great podcast called Canadian Business Women.

Check out what she has to say about working with me:

"I hired Adam to help me launch my podcast and not only did he make it easy by teaching me about podcasting, but also business as well. If you're looking to launch or grow your podcast you definitely need to hire Adam!"?

?

??What's happening on THREADS this week:

One of the reasons I love the Threads platform is that it only takes me 30 seconds to create most of my posts.?

When I tell people I post 3-5 times a day they have a visceral "I just puked in my mouth a little bit" reaction....until I remind them that creating five posts on Threads still takes a fraction of the time it takes to create one IG Reel or Tiktok video.?

Now I'm saving even more time on this platform by saving my best performing text posts to re-use again later.....and I'm even saving common replies that I give when I'm on the streets of Threads dropping knowledge on other people's posts!?

?

That is all for today. I hope that you are enjoying this weekly newsletter! I've got to wrap up a few things here and then?activate?my Out Of Office email reply until the new year!?

Your Pod Pal,

Adam

Great advice Adam. Video content can be overrated. Why spend all this time and energy into creating a video post just to be part of someone’s “doom scrolling” before they fall asleep. There isn’t a lot of connection on video - for most of us. That being said, I do enjoy creating content. And if you enjoy it, then keep doing what you love.
