Why I’m Building Growthron
It began on the balcony of my Secondary School.
I was almost done with my final exams (WAEC) and I was thinking through a number of different things.
What’s coming? What’s going to happen with my life? What do I want? Where am I headed?
Success. What does that even mean? How do I get it? What if I don’t get it? I don’t want to live a miserable life. I’m afraid. What do I do?
No. I’m not some weird, depressed young man going through an existential crisis. I was just very concerned about what was coming for me.
It sucked.
I had loads of questions and I wanted answers to them.
I had questions about my career, the direction I should take, and the things I needed to do to move forward.
I saw a lot of people around me and I didn’t want to end up like them.
I didn’t want to end up struggling all my life. I didn’t want to end up spending 5+ years after graduating before I’m able to earn a living or just accepting whatever circumstance comes.
You know, I initially thought this was just my problem until I started noticing it in every young person around me.
We were all questioning.
We wanted to know what we could do to make something great out of our own lives. Nobody wants to end up a failure.
But there were no answers.
You see, everybody just kind of believes that young people will somehow figure things out. That through some?abracadabra, we will stumble upon the right things that will spark our growth.
But there is no abracadabra in reality. And that means many of us are unable to find the path to create a life that we would love.
That hurts,…badly.
I was lucky to meet a mentor, through whom I discovered that there are actually certain things that must be learnt & done to answer the questions we all have. And that these things are teachable.
I can easily say that has been my biggest realization so far.
I followed these steps myself and I saw that I was gradually finding answers to my pressing questions. The path was becoming clearer and I was becoming much more confident that I’ll be able to drive my life in a suitable direction.
Then, irresistibly, I started feeling the urge to solve this problem for other young people.
I explored a number of ways?(we'll talk?about this?in?another?article), most of which were ineffective.
However, that urge ultimately became Growthron.
I’m building Growthron to solve a problem I have.
At Growthron
We want to democratize access to the things people need to learn and do to build a thriving life & career — making it available to everyone.
We want to equip young people with the capacity to build a life they would love.
We want to go beyond just motivation, psych-up talks, and “you can do it!” speeches to provide the practical, concrete, and actionable steps people need to take to move forward.
In other words, we’re cutting through the fuss and straight into what will actually produce real outcomes. No BS.
Imagine what it feels like to be informed. To know the direction to take at different points of one’s life. That’s what we want to make available to everyone.
It’s why I’m building Growthon.
