Why I Wrote on Medium for 100 Days

Why I Wrote on Medium for 100 Days

You guys…I did it! I accomplished my goal of writing a short post every single day for 100 days. Whew. Ok, on to the why.

  1. To see if I could do it
  2. To write, because I always say that I hate to
  3. To be more visible professionally
  4. To be accountable personally
  5. To make time in every busy day
  6. To be proactive and write a few posts at once
  7. To wait until the last minute and write a post
  8. To hang out on Medium
  9. To read more posts by other Medium folks
  10. To improve the SEO of Tina Cordes (RIP all the SEO I built up with Tina Glengary)
  11. To do research
  12. To share all the NYT articles that I read
  13. To post photos of the dogs
  14. To blend my professional and private selves
  15. To feel like I accomplished something
  16. To write for strangers
  17. To write for my friends and family
  18. To share my experience and experiences
  19. To ask questions
  20. To cross post to LinkedIn
  21. To ponder why some posts get read/shared and others don’t
  22. To ponder why LinkedIn is weird, but good, but still weird
  23. To try to keep each post to a 1 minute or less read
  24. To have a pile full of half started posts in the draft folder
  25. To play with formatting, but still fall back on lists
  26. To realize how much I love lists
  27. To write a list that includes loving lists
  28. To keep pace with Heather Champ’s 100 Days of Boring Beads
  29. To realize that I love writing short, choppy sentences
  30. To edit out 25% of the extra words in every post
  31. To feel like my writing is too short
  32. To get feedback saying short posts are good
  33. To connect with old friends (Hi Stephen Koch!)
  34. To have some loyal readers (Hi John Manoogian III!)
  35. To have my husband recommend almost all my posts (Hi evan cordes!)
  36. To be comfortable with my inconsistencies and lack of a specific topic to write about
  37. To try to write 100 reasons why, but stop at #37

Let’s see if I write tomorrow. ;)
