WHY I TRAVEL

WHY I TRAVEL

I travel to reframe my story. I travel to remind myself how simultaneously unimportant and powerful I am in this impossible, beautiful world.?

I travel to bridge divides. I travel to bring people from very different walks of life together, to drive change that is grounded in shared values of connection, understanding, and most importantly, equity.?

At a time that feels so fraught with division and fear in this country and around the world, I see shared experience as critical to building a better world. I don’t see many examples of how to create authentic avenues for connection across divides outside of Global Glimpse , and so I travel to share the work we are doing and to learn how we can do it better.

When I started this journey building Global Glimpse 15 years ago, there was no acknowledgement of the importance of equity and diversity in the travel industry. For the affluent, travel was viewed as a critical part of a high quality education, an invaluable tool for personal development, and one of the most joyful and rewarding parts of life. For everyone else, travel was considered an impossible luxury. Valuing experiences for some and not for others is so fundamentally wrong.

I believe deeply, that life changing experiences change lives, and I have made it my life's work to not only make travel accessible to young people from all backgrounds, but to change the very fabric of the travel industry. Over the past few years, this work has begun to manifest in more powerful ways and Global Glimpse has risen as a leader in the movement to re-envision the future of travel, with equity at the center.

Today we are proud to share the launch of “I Travel, a campaign to raise the bar around equity and diversity in travel. It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to collaborate with like-minded leaders across the travel industry to reimagine the future of travel for the next generation.

The shifts in our industry give me great hope for the future, and I am overjoyed that our newest corporate sponsor, Marriott International , has committed to match the first $10,000 donated to the “I Travel campaign dollar for dollar!?

We know travel is powerful. Join us to make it accessible today!
