Why I took the pay equity pledge
This week, I became an ambassador for pay equity by taking the pay equity pledge. Those of you who have spent time with me know that I am committed to promote and ensure gender equality within Randstad and advocate for others to do the same.
The national pay gap is currently 16.2% and with over 65% of Randstad employees being women, it is right that I take on this challenge. Fairness and inclusivity are the backbone of our organisation so improving gender equality for our people is a must. But, it’s a journey and often a complex one that requires process to be put in place to make tangible change.
Over the last two years, the Randstad team and I have been consistently working towards this. We benchmark roles against yearly industry salary statistics to make sure our employees are paid fairly for the work they do. Our HR teams conduct yearly pay reviews to check imbalance in the system and adjust pay where we find issue. Most recently, we have created the role of General Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, at Randstad. This new position is designed specifically to grow our expertise in the area of Diversity and Inclusion as we apply the principles to ourselves and consult with many of our clients as well.
As a pay equity ambassador, I will continue to deliver a pay gap analysis for Randstad and take action on the findings. Crucially, I will communicate the challenge when we face them and the initiatives the company is taking to address on behalf of all our employees.
