Why I thrive around good people

Good friends, good customers or even a good boss is hard to find. But they are even harder to leave and unforgettable when you do.

I was recently onstage at a conference and I spoke about a workshop I did at a previous job. The subject was inspiration. Think about your favourite holiday, your favourite food, your best friend or a childhood memory. What do they all have in common?

We are hard wired to have strong connections with good feelings. It's an emotion! Don't commoditise people. When I think of the most influential people in my life so far, the ones who made a huge impact. I realise they trusted and believed in who I am and what I want to achieve.

Big Tip! Seek out authentic people and bring them into your circle but don't forget to give. It's not all about you, life is about about giving and receiving.

I have been growing and learning a lot in the last 6 years. Working on my own initiative and creating projects and solutions for my community. Now I want to do more with other groups and work with new people who have different strengths and objectives.

I put a lot of my success down to building authentic connections with talented people and growing with them. Hard work isn't enough these days, you have to work smart.
