Why I think the VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show is such a great opportunity for exhibitors!

Whilst for years trade shows in general seemed to have suffered from discussions about their relevance to the market, I have noticed, like many of you for sure, that recently things are changing rapidly. A renewed enthusiasm from both visitors, trade organisations and exhibitors for what I have always considered the most important event in the business: the jewellery trade show!
Listening to the Market
Just by listening to how the VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show is organized this year, I realized how well they’ve actually listened to the market and translated that into the most important jewellery trade show (also open to the public) in the Middle East. What they offer to the brands, wholesalers, companies and retailers exhibiting at the show is a direct result from listening to what people really needed.
Relevance of Jewellery Trade Shows
I have never made it a secret, even during the harsh years when the world was suffering one of the worst financial crisis’s, that visiting trade shows of the business you are in, is so important. Discussions about how costly they were for both exhibitors and visitors were all very legitimate, but people forgot the human factor. Humans connect with humans. We can only do so much online, but in order to grow, get inspired, do business on a higher level, network and really get a good feel with the market, one needs to meet in person. Also; no matter how far technology has come, nothing replaces the experience of touching jewellery, letting it run through your hands! This is the place to talk directly with clients and companies and network with peers.
A Jewellery Show, a Road Show
The VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show, also known as VOD DIJS, appears to have made the connection between the above described advantages of a trade show and the new era where ‘merely’ creating a fantastic showground is no longer enough.
They understand perfectly that exhibitors expect more today and they meet that request with their unique approach. For example; with a pre-roadshow and exclusive buyer hosting programs.
Before the show, a team of VOD DIJS goes visiting more than 15 countries to meet with jewellery associations, buyers, and everyone that needs to know about the biggest jewellery show in the Middle East! Focussing on countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan, Jordan, Russia and many more.
Regional advisors make sure that all information is passed on to the every person that matters, every organisation and all high spending buyers in their area.
Jewellery and gemstones companies can also indicate which top buyers are absolutely worth inviting for the hosted buyers program, paving the way for a comfortable and well facilitated access to the jewellery show itself and VOD DIJS itself is creating matchmaking initiatives before and during the show itself!
Exhibiting at the VOD DIJS
Although hosted in beautiful Dubai, this show isn’t focussing on Dubai clients and exhibitors alone. The show has over 500+ exhibitors, both local, regional and international. The clients share the same profile; local, regional and international.
If you as a brand, a wholesaler, a company, are seeking a way into the Middle Eastern market, want to meet with buyers from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Russia, the UK, Kuwait and so forth, this is your gateway.
Did you know that the VOD DIJS also actively guides buyers based on their profile and needs?
B2B but also B2C. Opportunities for Large Jewellery Retailers to Exhibit.
The VOD DIJS is the result of several jewellery organisations merging together and that result is an event that is both B2B ánd B2C.
For some exhibitors meeting the buyers from the aforementioned countries is what they are there for. Others serve both buyers and the public. And here is what is so unique about this particular jewellery show: big retailers can actually also expose at the event!
They can exhibit and sell directly to B2C clients! It doesn’t matter if your jewellery store(s) are based in Swiss, Dubai or any other country, you can actually sell directly to high net value private visitors of the VOD DIJS. Last year there were around 23.000 clients visiting from 76 countries! Whilst you are exhibiting yourself, why not look around for new and exciting merchandise for your store too!
Exciting for both visitors and exhibitors.
As an exhibitor you want clients, buyers that come, see and buy your product. You know that the more a show offers, the more likely it is the client wants to spend time and money to come over. Being relevant is the buzzword today and VOD DIJS has perfectly understood this. With catwalks, consultations with fashion magazine stylists and editors, social media influencers, many glamorous and exciting events for both the public and trade visitors, they entertain and inform.
In short:
- VOD DIJS is the largest jewellery show of its kind in the Middle Eastern region.
- The show has an international focus.
- It’s open for both the jewellery trade as to the public
- And has 4 different communities: Fine Jewellery, Global Brands, Gemstone and Diamonds and Packaging and Technology.
- Exhibitors can sell B2B only, B2B and B2C, or only B2C
- Exhibitors can be brands, wholesalers, companies within the jewellery industry and jewellery retailers .
- The show is held from 14 - 17 NOVEMBER 2018

6 年Sounds great, I was trying to find an exhibitor list but could not. Any idea if it's too early for that, or if it's not going to be disclosed at all? Thanks for sharing insightful infos.
