Why I think satellites can be the first step in ending global technology divide
You may know that we have been using technologies like 4G and 5G. These are cellular types of technologies that work within our Earth's atmosphere and rely on terrestrial (earthbound) infrastructure. Now, satellite-based technology, like the famous Starlink, takes communication beyond our world... literally. Satellite-based technology works by transmitting and receiving information between Earth and space, enabling global communication. It uses a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites to provide worldwide connectivity.
?
Why is this important?
?
It overcomes one of the key limitations of technologies like 4G and 5G: their limited geographical reach.
Satellite technologies orbit the earth constantly, and in combination with other satellites moving around the earth, can connect to any point of the earth, even the most remoted areas. This means you can have 5g reliable technology even in the middle of nowhere.
Most significantly, this overcomes the barrier of having to invest huge amounts of technologies in less developed countries where the infrastructure of regularly placed 4g/5g hubs is expensive and impractical. ?
Overall, satellite-based technologies is really an opportunity to give equal access of high quality reliable technology, globally, not just at our silicon valleys and other global hotspots. You can imagine this means access to streaming education for students in sparce areas, access to knowledge for professionals without any other easier means and ability to connect the world at large in an imaginable way like never before.
