Why I Switched from Uber to Lyft (the reason isn't what you think)

Uber hasn't had the best year. But my experience with Uber has remained consistently above average and even though I had the Lyft app installed on my phone I just never used it. That is until Uber changed their app so that Uber is tracking you even when the Uber app isn't running. Lyft on the other hand gives you the option to us your phones GPS only when you have the app running. For me it really shows what kind of company you are.
Thank you Lyft for respecting my privacy and allowing me the option to not send you my location data all the time.

7 年It's also interesting that UberEATS has the setting for "while using" but Uber doesn't. Obviously a conscious effort on their part.
I had no idea that Uber was so nosy...

7 年Interesting. I just checked my settings in Android, and it is defaulted to "Trip Related".

7 年Casey Johnson - With iOS 11 coming out next week, they have made a change to prevent apps from doing this. There is now always a setting for only allowing location data while using the app. The app can no longer control this.
