Why I Started a Computer & Technology Company

Why I Started a Computer & Technology Company

Hi everyone,

I’m John C. Morley a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, national talk show host, and video producer-director of content that creatively and inspires people to take action. Many of you may not know my full story and how I started my first company while I was still in college during my junior year. This all happened because my parents owned a business and a battery went dead on one of their computers, I built for them several years ago. I had asked my dad to go down to the local supercomputer store as I was in college and would not be home till the weekend. He did go down there and then he called me when they told him it would be close to two thousand dollars to fix after charging him a $75.00 analysis fee. I said to change a battery; he said no they claim the entire motherboard failed.

Upon hearing this disturbing news, I asked him to just leave it as I would be home that Friday and would fix it myself. When I arrived home, I decided to visit this superstore where he left the computer and expose them for the true fraud that they were. I played the role of an architect who was not computer savvy and went to the store to hear their side of the story. I had a coin cell battery for the computer and asked the tech to see if we could just pop this in for giggles just to humor my pretend friend who was a computer expert. After he figured out how to remove the old battery and install the new one, it was well over thirty minutes, and magically after he did that the computer booted up with no problem.

Within moments I said to him, looks like it was just a dead battery; he said let me get a supervisor, one moment. Within five minutes he returned with a supervisor who told me it was not the battery that solved the problem but instead that they had already changed the motherboard. Again, my dad never authorized them to do anything as he was waiting for me to come home from school. I then decided to come clean and share with them that I was not an architect in school and that I was soon to be an engineer and understood electronics very well. They said that’s fine you still owe us $2100.00 plus tax and I then asked what is the serial number of the motherboard. They read me the serial number of the motherboard as I finished the last for characters as I had a picture of it on my phone.

Now they knew they were caught red-handed and I told them if they don’t give my father back his money now, I was going to #News12 #CNN, #Fox5 News, #ABC, #NBC, and the local papers to expose them for fraud. They did agree to give me back the computer at no cost but I told them if you keep acting the way you are, your company will be out of business in five years. Well, they continued to act in an unprofessional underhanded manner and they didn’t even make it two more years before closing their doors.

Thus, I knew I had a prime market as not only was I fair with people but I knew how to fix technology instead of doing what I call “Super Store Games”; we just fix your technology problems right the first time. After graduating college, I knew that many people would only be making their choice on price alone. Thus, I told people from day one if you are only evaluating us on price, we are not a match and look for someone else to fix your technology challenges.

Many people in our world are of the following disciplines: a) they think they know better and can do it themselves, b) they don’t want to pay so they try to do themselves 3) they don’t know or care about computers but just want the first cheapest guy they can find. This is not my market as our sweet spot is targeting company’s that have 25-500 #computers. This doesn’t mean we won’t help a discerning home or residential client but we are not about to play games to offer them the lowest price. After all, we have been doing this now for over 30+ years and we know more than a thing or two. Plus several international #banks on #wall-street rely on my company to keep their data centers up, operational support, installation, and service not to mention we have passed several background checks to have an extremely high clearance.

Do you go to our #barber to for questions about your #teeth or your #landscaper for #questions about your bones, I would think not. Thus, why would you go to someone who just started learning technology a year or two ago when you should only trust it to professionals. Unfortunately, many people in our world have been #brainwashed because they feel that the company that spends the most on #advertising is the one that knows what they are doing. Wrong, did you know that more legal issues happen with large company’s who frequently don’t follow policy’s and procedures every day. I know if I was going to get a computer fixed or get a cake baked I would want someone local that I and others trust in the community.
