After a busy few months of intense travel and indulging for my 54th birthday, next week I will finally start the 10-week Vibrant Aging Metabolic Reset program guided by health and wellness coach Wynne Heilbrunn .
To hold myself accountable, I will post an article once a week until it's done. If I know you're watching me, I'll be more motivated to stay on course.
Now that it’s time to think before I put something in my mouth, I’m excited and nervous. This isn’t a typical diet (and I've tried a lot of them). It’s a commitment to rewire my habits, change my approach to health, and silence the voice inside me that is tempted by quick fixes.
As my clothes become too tight and I dread buying bigger clothes, I think, why don't I just take a pill, a shot or a powder to magically lose weight? My friends are using shortcuts like Ozempic, peptides, and plastic surgery and they look amazing. But I also know they’re worried if they stop, the weight will come back. I researched these options and I got worried about the side effects and potential permanent damage.?
I’m ready to level up and take a different path—one that’s sustainable and rooted in my own efforts. One that I can be proud of, not pharmaceutically induced.
This journey isn’t just about the physical transformation; it’s about proving to myself that I can push past the easy option and build real, lasting habits. This is climbing my mountain.?
What also attracted me to this health reset is that it’s beyond changing my body, it's changing the way I will age. I look at the women in my immediate family who are in their 80s. Some are in a wheelchair and dependent on others for everything. Others live alone and are independent.
When I'm 80, I know how I want to live.
I’m reading the prep materials and getting inspired. Beyond losing weight, here are some of the changes I look forward to:

The program will challenge me to live differently, live mindfully. Ten weeks of meal planning, mindset coaching, and daily journaling will require dedication and patience.?
One way I plan to succeed is to delete social media from my phone for the 10 weeks.? My social media feed bombards me with ads for instant results. Plus the time I save not scrolling will allow me time to succeed in the program. ?
I am most curious about sharing this health reset journey with a cohort of other people from across the US who virtually hold each other accountable (and maybe create a little competition.)?
When it comes to a challenge, I’m a bit of a loner so doing something with a small group working towards a shared goal sounds compelling. Actually in the last TEDx show I produced, one of the talks by Stacey Lauren was about this concept - so I’m excited to try it out.
So here’s to starting a journey that’s all mine - with a little help from my new friends and a dedicated health coach, Wynne.
I’m ready for this journey and committed to permanent lifestyle changes that lead to long-term health. Stay tuned til next week.
