This is why I ring... and why you should too!
The Salvation Army fed families during the Great Depression, comforted soldiers in WWII and now provides relief during a pandemic. THIS IS WHY WE RING!

This is why I ring... and why you should too!

October 3rd I was volunteering at a flea market, ringing the bell at a Red Kettle for The Salvation Army. An older couple approached and the wife put a $5 bill in the kettle saying, "There are two reasons why I will always support The Salvation Army ..."

"Before there was government assistance and other national charities serving those in need, my grandfather and his family of six were very poor. It was in the very early 1900s and no one, no organization helped to feed and clothe them other than The Salvation Army."

"The other reason for my support of The Salvation Army? My father was on the battlefields in WWII. It was difficult to find the writing utensils and paper for the soldiers to write home to their families and sweethearts. A large, well-known nonprofit would sell paper and pens to the soldiers. Not The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army would provide these for free, along with other needed supplies."

Hearing countless stories such as this is why I ring! You can ring the bell too!

The Salvation Army raises approximately 70% of its funds needed for the entire year to help individuals and families in need during its annual Red Kettle Campaign. Volunteer Bell Ringers greeting customers as they shop are as important to the work that we do as the worker serving among the homeless, or helping to prevent homelessness during a pandemic.
