Why I Retired Early; a Random Article

Why I Retired Early; a Random Article

At the age of 53, I retired early from public education.? My last role was assistant superintendent for operations of a district with 26,000 students and 3,000 employees.? Some of my other roles included middle school principal, assistant principal, teacher, and substitute teacher; curriculum director, executive director and instructional math coach.? Education has been my adult life after a brief stint as a firefighter.?

For many years as an adult, the Still Small Voice within instructed me to live another journey as a businessman; one day at a time, using the guidance of the Spirit within.? So in January 2024, I am heeding the call to share this “retirement walk” with others.? I’m not exactly sure where this is taking me; however, I know that listening to Spirit has its own way of working things out for the better, especially with the absence of my public titles that once defined my ego. ?After ten months of retirement, my public ego has diminished rapidly.? And even if my “businessman” dreams never materialize in wealth, there’s profound peace in sharing these notes.

Somehow, there’s victory in this phase of life. ?How do I define victory?? It’s simple.? Learning to feel and live a life according to Spirit on a daily basis by being financially stable and boss free at a relatively young age.? ?I cannot prescribe how I got here to anyone else.? That is not what I’m being led to write about, as we all have our journey, and I'm not a financial coach.? I’m being led to express to you the importance of finding time for yourself and His plan in your very own precious life that will never be replicated in this form again on planet earth.?

The life I lead manifested from a teaching career, which my beloved mother sparked, but never had the opportunity to physically celebrate beyond the classroom assignments I once held. ?She passed in 2004?but still visits in my dreams. The promotions I received were literally handed to me based on my successes with children in the classroom, along with continued successes in subsequent roles. Thank you momma!? And because my lifestyle is based on an experienced teacher’s salary, the promotions I received after 2005 allowed me to retire early and to create my own company without undue worry about money (i.e. barring national financial collapse :-).? In that case, we’ll all be in the same boat.? I am just grateful for the opportunity to rest and to better hear Spirit…and then follow.

Every so often, another article will be published in this medium, i.e. as I’m guided to do so.? This is what Accuratics LLC is all about; encouraging the creation of a freer lifestyle that is aligned with God’s purpose for our lives based on our God-given talents. ?The goal is to follow His guidance and then have the courage to share experiences, hoping that it’ll inspire others in some way.

(That's all for now...)

Love this for you, Kwame... and for the example it provides for the rest of us. Lots of resonance in what you shared. Feels like the way forward that's calling us all... to live a soul-led life. Kudos and congrats on everything, including this beautiful, unfolding chapter. Perhaps we can share some notes at some point soon. Best wishes!

I love your article and I celebrate the bold move you made to step into an early retirement to pursue His purpose for your life. We are on a similar journey as I stepped into retirement in 2020 for essentially the same cause. Much success to you on this journey and I will see you at the top!
