Why I Quit DoorDash To Be A Dasher
Thursday, March 31st was my final day as a corporate employee at DoorDash and Saturday, April 2nd was my first day signed up as a Dasher on their delivery platform. Here’s my short story for why I jumped off DoorDash's rocketship ?? that's headed straight for the moon ??
First and Foremost
I'm so freaking proud I worked at DoorDash
The last two years have taught me?so much?and has forever positively impacted my life. As the pandemic started I was?NOT?in a good financial or mental place in my personal / professional life and DoorDash hiring me save my life. I was depressed, lost, alone, and I felt completely hopeless. I was at ‘rock bottom’ and I have no idea where I’d be today if it wasn’t for DoorDash ??
The growth I've seen in myself
since I got hired two years ago is why I have the confidence to quit and leave to try and bring a passion project I’ve been working on to life. You see, for the last 18 months I’ve been a part of DoorDash's Sales Lab team. On Sales Lab my job was to run experiments and test some of DoorDash's biggest bets by helping find product market fit by building out processes and sales strategies for some of DoorDash's next billion dollar businesses. Figuring out product market fit and scaling
has prepared me in?so many different ways?for what I know lies ahead for me on my personal journey post-DoorDash!
I'll forever be grateful
for what I’ve learned and more importantly who I’ve been able to work with and learn from. DoorDash has A+ people that are talented /smart rockstars?but more importantly they’re thoughtful, genuine, empathetic, kind, caring and ambitious individuals?that are looking to support one another and make an impact for things that matter:?for each other, for important initiatives at DoorDash, and for important things in society and around the ?? too
Dashing For Your Dreams
Every single one of you
reading this,?whether you’re a former colleague of mine or not,?has dreams and goals that you’re trying to accomplish in your life. There are many different ways to get you there and becoming a Dasher is one of them!
With my personal / professional goals over the next 10+ years I need and value
I value these ?? things way more than I value ??
I understand that different people value different things
so I’m not trying to convince anyone reading this to quit their job if they love where they’re at.?I’m just trying to start the conversation around finding happiness?because?at the end of the day Gokul said it best in this tweet!
If I'm humble enough to
quit my six figure job and give up all my future stock options at one of the fastest growing ?? and most recognizable companies to find the happiness, fulfillment, meaning and purpose I’m striving for in my life —?you can too!
We all have options
and lucky for me, I won’t be too far away from the company I’ve grown to love, admire and be so grateful for over the last 2 years. Becoming a Dasher is one of those incredible options that gives people flexibility, time & empowers people to focus on their dreams ??

And as Fauzia said
I encourage each of you reading this
to look in the mirror to see if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to your dreams and your ambitious goals. Realize that there are options - like becoming a Dasher on DoorDash - that can help you get closer to yours!
Creativity Takes Courage
This Alfred Lin + Brian Chesky Retweet w/ ?? and ?? for Pablo + Henri is one of my favorites ??
These three word phrases
I’ve put together are very important to me. Hopefully they inspire you today too! ??
Creativity takes courage?so?bet on yourself?and?trust your gut.?You’re gonna die?because?life’s too short?so?make it count.?Legacy over currency?means?don’t have regrets?so?keep on going.?Believe in yourself?to?follow your passions,?find your purpose?and to?always dream big.?Love one another?so?recognize your colleagues?by?doing things differently.?Celebrate small wins?but also?appreciate the scars?because?business is art.?Be really confident?but understand?life is humbling?and most importantly realize that?relationships really matter. Finally, if you understand that?attention equals currency?you’ll be able to?create serious demand?that will help you?accomplish your goals
So Trevor, What's Your Passion Project?
Drumroll ?? please!
For now, all I’ll share is that I’ve teamed up with Kevin Sofen and we’re working on bringing an incredibly impactful?NFT project?to life this year. Our ambitious goal is to help and support hundreds of different charities and nonprofits in 2023 and thousands by the time we reach 2030!
The NFT Project
we’re designing, creating and bringing to life was inspired by mine and Kevin's
So, in honor of the one and only
Gary Vaynerchuk and his incredible ???Twelve and a Half, here are 12 more three word phrases
In December, I gifted ?? 9 of my colleagues at DoorDash their very own copy of GaryVee's brand new ?? Twelve and a Half ??
Stay tuned!
Soon, Kevin and I will be sharing more information about the NFT project we’re currently designing. We can’t wait to share more information when the timing makes more sense!
