Why I Quit Being a Private Eye

Someone wanted to know why I resigned from my private investigations career, after going through all the hard work and qualifications needed to become a licensed private detective, and later switching gears to become the #1 ranked Google Adwords / Marketing guy (in the world, as per Google).

The answer was clear.

Bad (even scary) people would try to hire me to dig up dirt on their adversaries (or witnesses against them in a crime they probably committed) and even though the offer for the 'big money' was real, I would not take any of those cases. Unfortunately those were mostly the kind of 'cliental' that the Board of Investigators would send you.

A Little History

I guess you could say I'm an entrepreneur. My wife and I built many new businesses and companies over our (40+) years of marriage including 3 health clubs in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee area, 3 Building Supply's in California and Oregon, a couple of nice restaurants, and even a Swimming Center for Race horses located at Bay Meadows Race Track in San Mateo California. Today I still oversee a construction & real estate development company that launched in Palo Alto California in 1984, license #465222. I've even had a hostile takeover of a company that we founded. However, even through the bad experiences, I've learned a lot of incredibly valuable information that I now use to help others. I'm glad to say I've never sued anyone in my life (to date). To me, being a Jesus follower, suing people is kind of like living in a sewer, it stinks.

I originally obtained my PI License for the purpose of helping people (mainly recover missing children) but I found that the PI sector smelled a little like the sewer and I did not want to get that smell on me too much. It wasn't like Mannix, Barnaby Jones, or going way back, Peter Gunn. It was more like what my daughter used to say, it was 'yucky'.

For over 30 years now, my goal in life has been to help people get free from spiritual bondage and find the only path to God, Jesus Christ. The opposite is to put fear in people because they might have done something wrong in their life and now its going to be used to haunt them or their credibility, like many PI's like to do.

Satan, 'the accuser' (yes he is real) paralyzes believers in Jesus from going out and sharing the good news. How? By continually shooting the arrows of condemnation and shame from their own shortcomings, insecurities and faults. Contrary to those who like to put people in bondage, Jesus said "whoever (you) the Son (Jesus) sets free, is free indeed. Imagine all your fears gone forever, even the fear of death!

The Answer to All Life Problems

That good news is that God loves mankind so much, that even though they (our news reporters from CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.) don't acknowledge Him and really turn against Him every day (and think they know better than their own Creator, and want to really be little gods themselves) yet, He would still come to earth, in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ, give His own life on a cross as a ransom (freely) to pay for all our sins, and that anyone who asked the Father (praying in Jesus's name, asking for forgiveness, and turning away from evil), he or she would be accepted and spend eternity with Him (and not go where those who reject Jesus go where Satan knows he is going and he wants to bring as many of us down with him, because that is the only way he can hurt God, by deceiving mankind.

As a former Private Investigator I understand what a ransom really is. A ransom is given, as payment for a situation someone is in, that they themselves cannot personally pay their way out of.

God did that for you, and everyone who believes. By trusting in Jesus as your Savior and Lord, even though you will still fail God often, you are accepted into His beloved by faith in Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

The word of God says, "We all fall short of the glory of God", "Do not judge others, for with what manner you judge people, that is how the Father will judge you" and "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind."

No one, including believers, maintain their lives continually in some perfect state, but like any good father would say, you don't have to always win, just give it your best, and that is all I ask.

The only investigating I use my skills for today is finding high integrity teams to serve with and projects worth investing in. My work as a Private Eye joined with my skills as an Internet/Search expert and founder of Advanced Online Technology (AOT) has empowered me with a little wisdom and experience to know what to look for while preforming due diligence for myself and others that ask for my advice or consulting on any subject.
