Why I post what I post? I don't know.
I'm listening to this ad podcast called #frompooptogold by the Harmon Brothers and I got a super interesting nugget from one of their guests.
Why do you post what you post? For me, at least recently, it's felt pretty uninspired. Yesterday and today I experimented with posting reactionary content to a trend that's happened within the last 12 hours.
Yesterday, there was a trending article about how farts could transmit Corona. So I made a "commercial" for durable, fart-proof jeans called Covies.
Today, Trump retweeted a post that said #firefauci. So, I listed a job opening on upwork for Director of NAID. Skills needed were things like dishonesty, blind loyalism, and performing felatio every night before his hibiscus bath.
I posted each on youtube, tik tok, here, reddit, and instagram. I experimented with hashtags. I did all the things. Nothing. I got got less traction than I've gotten in a long time. And I don't get much traction.
The reason behind my efforts makes total sense. I need clients and this could generate leads. The execution seems like it's worth a shot. But my heart really isn't in it. Sharing this experience, being vulnerable and honest, is. Maybe that's where I should focus.
Maybe "why I post" is to share the truth of my experience to help me connect with others and offer something relatable. Maybe as I learn from my mistakes others can too. Maybe.
