Why I picked up Running as my New Sport?

In the rhythmic pounding of my feet against the pavement, I discovered a language that spoke to my soul and my mind- a language called Running!
In November 2023, I finally wanted to challenge myself with a fitness exercise which would be light on my pockets and not difficult to continue ahead. Running felt like a great contender. Fitness doesn’t have to be expensive, Runing is the most freely accessible form of exercise.
Initially I couldn’t even run for a kilometer as my body was stiff and my mind constantly hammering me to just stop and quit. But I fought against my mind because my heart knew that the hardest part of any activity is to get started. I knew I could improve and achieve my goal of running in a marathon.
With the help of my local running group, I learnt about the basics of running, warm-up, and cooldown exercise after a run. The runners in the group were very welcoming and always motivated me to run and keep going.
I discovered these amazing benefits of Running:
1.?????? It gets your Heart Pumping. As per a research study over 15 years, the people who ran for just 50 mins a week at moderate pace were less likely to die from cardiovascular diseases. Running improves your heart conditions and the muscles of your heart.
2.?????? Running helps you with weight loss and helps you cut the bad fat from body.
3.?????? Running strengthens your bone structure.
4.?????? It helps stimulate your brain and for me personally helped me find new ideas while running while clearing the clutter.
5.?????? It helps enhance Emotional and Psychological well-being hence getting you a good balance in your mind.

6.?????? Helps decrease stress and increase confidence.
However, there are also things to be aware in Running such as Blisters, cramps, bloating. Being aware of these will help you minimize injuries and find ways to avoid their frequent occurrence.
Having a well-balanced diet with good intake of protein, being hydrated before running, proper warmup exercise before running and cool down exercise after run will go a long way in reducing injuries and increasing confidence in this endurance exercise.

In this steady thunder of my footsteps, I’ve found strength, clarity, gotten out of my comfort zone and an unyielding belief that, just like in running, EVERY STEP FORWARD COUNTS!!

9 个月I completely agree with you regarding the benefits of running. I have always felt like running or even jogging helps open our mind and also helps to relieve stress. Goes to show that it has both physical as well as mental benefits!
