Why I will be a loyal Steingolds of Chicago customer for life even after missing my breakfast sandwich.
My Fiancée and I both work from home and had a very hectic morning so we decided to order delivery from our favorite local bagel spot. We both ordered a halva latte, fiancée - pastrami breakfast sandwich and I the Classic Lox sandwich. We were both so very excited for our working breakfast of champions we ripped open the beautiful bag, and "gasp"....
no lox sandwich! Oh the horror??!
Instead of spiraling I chose the path of less violence and ordered another lox sando, walked the dog and again "gasp" the order arrived (mind you this was all under 20 minutes).
Not only did I get my beautiful lox sandwich on an everything bagel with the perfect amount of cream cheese and extra thinly slice tomato... but: ANOTHER sandwich, two cookies, this hand written note from the Manager, Maddi and a refund!!!!
My mind.. blown! Did I order from the Ritz-Carlton?? Nope!
They could have easily just said "eh, just another order", refunded and gone about their day. But oh no, they just blew our minds with TRUE HOSPITALITY and went well above and beyond for their customer.
Morrows of the story:
1) You don't have to order from a high-end establishment for excellent service.
2) Order from the restaurant directly (when possible).
3) Everyone go to Steingolds of Chicago if you're in the area.
