Celebrating Change & Evolution

For Part II of April’s Why I Love My Job feature, Change & Evolution edition, Seasons spoke to a leader who has worked in several different positions at Seasons, given the learning and growth opportunities to successfully serve his “second” family.

Chris Stuart, General Manager (Seasons Stoney Creek)

I started working at the company in June 2017 as the Business Manager (Seasons Welland)

Seasons: Why did you choose to start working at Seasons?

Chris: Before joining Seasons, I worked in the hospitality industry for five years and found the guest experience to be very unrewarding.? To now be able to work in the senior living sector, and serve our residents who we admire and respect for all they have accomplished in their lives is an amazing opportunity.

Q: What do you like best about your job?

A: There are two driving factors that not only make this such an enjoyable job but also a big part of my life: our residents and team members.? When you start at Seasons and begin to experience our culture, everyone becomes like an extended family; we celebrate the good times together and also support each other through the tough times.

Q: How has Seasons helped you advance along your career path?

A: Seasons has provided me with the training and resources to understand the overall business process, first when I started as the Business Manager at Welland, then when I became the Information Services Coordinator at our Support Office, and finally in my current position as the General Manager at Stoney Creek.? I was able to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of the Seasons' culture and values by visiting each home across Alberta and Ontario, and seeing how things operated.

Q: Do you have any words of advice for someone who is looking to grow within the company?

A: First and foremost, Seasons believes that the residents are the most important part of everything we do; we are lucky enough to be invited visitors to their home, and it is a responsibility that comes with great trust.? Sometimes I joke that my job is to make sure the lights stay on and the bills get paid for our residents’ homes! Once you put the residents at the centre of what you do, and work to do your job to the best of your ability, then the opportunities will follow.
