Here's a true and very recent story to show you how, when you do things the RIGHT way on LinkedIn, you can achieve great results!
Two weeks ago, a guy called?Jeremy Fish?commented on my post. His comment added value and was interesting, so I hopped over to his profile.??
His profile?was also?interesting, so I clicked through to see his ‘activity’ – ie. his posts and his comments.?
I really liked a comment he’d made about putting ‘getting more reach on my LinkedIn posts’ on his Christmas list.?
I’m liking this guy, he's funny.
I sent a connection request saying I may be able to help him with his Christmas list.?
He accepted.?
I asked if he wanted to ‘link out’ i.e. have a virtual cuppa, i.e. zoom (he’s in Houston, Texas?- I’m in north London).?
He accepted and the next day we spent an hour on zoom. We laughed – a lot. (so much so that my husband thought I was running a group coaching session ??). We shared stories about our families and our kids. But what we also did was share our skills.?
Jeremy was so knowledgeable about marketing and helped me enormously?with a new strategy I was working on. I gave Jeremy some tips and ideas to help his profile and content - I know he's still in implementation stage! ??

There are several lessons to be learned here:
- Comment with meaning and add value - you never know who's watching
- Have a fully optimised profile so when people look at it, they know who you are and what you do.
- Choose who you want to connect to with care
- Always add a note telling them WHY you want to connect
- Show your personality in EVERYTHING you do on LinkedIn - Jeremy and I knew we were going to get on as we liked the way the other showed up on LinkedIn.
- If?you come across someone on LinkedIn who seems like they may be interesting, helpful, or if you think you can help them – reach out! You never know where it could end up!
Does your profile show your personality enough to encourage strangers to want to get to know you more? Do you connect and comment with purpose?
If you want help doing any of these things, just ask and I'll try to help you.?

2 å¹´I love your story, Sarah. It's a great reminder that connecting can be about collaboration, often under-emphasized in discussions about community building.
