Why I love being a part of SCIEX

 D+I is the real differentiator

This story goes back to the time when I was interviewing for Danaher / SCIEX in October 2017. I was a new mother on a sabbatical based in Mauritius and my husband was in the military. All these facts combined would have raised biases in many hiring managers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t the case for SCIEX or the India Danaher team. None of the interview questions focused on any of the above personal aspects but delved into my experiences and my achievements. That was the starting point for me, looking up to this organization and feeling that it would be a place that accepts you for who you are and encourages differences.

The experience has remained consistent post my joining and the initial impression of SCIEX being an organization focused on diversity and inclusion is now cemented in my mind. It is an absolute pleasure to see the commitment we have on D+I and my own journey is a testament to what an incredible place this has been to work and grow. We don’t just talk about it our leaders walk the talk to make the organization what it is.     

I know friends who wouldn’t disclose the fact that their spouse is in the military because they could be viewed as having an unstable profile and consequently limited opportunities, but my experience has been just the opposite and I am grateful for how the organization has accepted this and helped me in my journey of being a working mother and a military wife who is also passionate about her career.

Danaher and SCIEX define inclusion as “allowing each associate to feel safe in being his or her true self” and I have always felt comfortable not only being who I am but celebrating that with my colleagues, managers and leaders within SCIEX and the Danaher India team.
