Why I left RPA for Entertainment

It wasn't an easy decision. I love technology and have been fortunate to spend close to 5 years working with one of Canada's fastest growing technology companies, Tangentia. What many people do not know is that before joining Tangentia I had a successful podcast interviewing leaders, speakers and authors, called Eduttain.

In fact, this podcast is how I started working with Tangentia. Several years ago, I interviewed the CEO and founder of Tangentia, Vijay Thomas, who I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from and work with. Although we didn't always agree, I have yet to meet a harder working CEO. I am also going to miss the team at Tangentia where I have made many friends over the years.

Vijay was one of over 75 guests I had on my podcast. Our interview is an interview I will not forget. Without Vijay I would not have had the opportunity to live and work in India. I'm sure it is not everyones dream, but for me it still feels like one. I am forever changed by my time in India. Many fond memories of food, culture, language and adventure.

During my time in India, I lived near the beautiful beaches of Goa. By some miracle, our office was and still is conveniently located about 20 minutes from the closest beach. My favourite beach was Arambol. An old fishing village that is now a seasonal home to tourists and travellers from all over the world. Also, home to some of the most generous and incredible musicians I have ever met.

It was there that I learned to play the guitar. The slow pace of Goa made it the perfect place to find the time to practice and improve. Playing the guitar has now become my meditation. I play everyday because I really enjoy it and the life-long challenge it presents.

Last year I spent the better part of the year travelling with my guitar in Ukraine, India and Sri Lanka. Each country I explored at my own pace, taking my time to get to know a place well. This slow deliberate travel was incredible.

During my travels I started to learn everything I could about Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Seeing the opportunities, job prospects and general direction of the industry. I just had to learn how to build software robots to automate work.

Always a student, I quickly became a certified RPA developer on the leading UiPath platform and had the opportunity to work on a number of projects with the talented team at Tangentia. The more I learned about RPA the more I wanted to know.

In an effort to share what I was learning I started to create short videos and share them on LinkedIn. If you've followed me for any length of time I am sure you have seen some of my videos. As far as I could tell people seemed to like and appreciate the content I was creating. My RPA network quickly grew to include many people in the RPA industry from all over the world. Everyone from implementation partners, service providers, developers, marketers, administrators and engineers. A talented group that I learn from everyday.

Recently, I was presented with an opportunity to join a financial show as a co host to interview executives. The show is called the Midas Letter Live. It is a live show that is professionally recorded and broadcast on Youtube. I interviewed James West who is the chief publisher and host at Midas Letter a few years ago on my podcast and now I get to join him and his team on his show. In the weeks and months to come I'll be interviewing leaders in the Capital Markets focusing on Gold, Cannabis, Crypto and even RPA. If you are an investor and want insights on financial news from a great line up of guests.

I'll be the first to admit I have a lot to learn in this new role. In many ways this is what has attracted me to the opportunity the most. The opportunity to learn, grow and challenge myself to be a little better than I was yesterday.

I am excited and look forward to sharing this journey with you.

Thank you for your love and support.
