Why I joined Skyflow

Why I joined Skyflow

I’ve gotten a ton of questions from friends and colleagues reaching out to ask what was so compelling about Skyflow that I left an amazing job at a great company (MuleSoft/Salesforce) leading one of the best SE teams in the business.?While I always enjoy chatting with friends and colleagues, thought I’d save some time and write it down.

So, here’s why I joined Skyflow:

1.) I care a lot about privacy

...and so does Skyflow. Seriously. I primarily surf through TOR, I adblock and rotate VPNs, I even used to have a second online identity to split my signal because I don’t trust most organizations to safeguard my data.?

What I found unique about Skyflow vs. generic security and tokenization offerings is: we consider the nuances of privacy instead of just trying to barely hit evolving compliance targets (though we do that too). That means having a well thought out privacy posture that takes into account the technical, regulatory, and human aspects of privacy.?

Skyflow was the only company I found in the space where it was clear everyone was thinking about more than securing data, and instead acting as stewards of trust in a constantly shifting regulatory environment.

2.) The Product.

For a Series B company, the product is shockingly mature, well documented, and intuitive.?The bar for enterprise startups has been raised over the years, but for an infrastructure component to have as usable and intuitive a UI and API, as well as rich governance features for non-technical stakeholders, was pretty mind blowing. Also, getting to see such strong early customer testimonials was a great indicator of the company’s direction.

3.) The Culture.

The first thing Anshu (Skyflow’s co-founder and CEO) had me do after he reached out was to meet with the team, and read the Glassdoor reviews.?People LOVE working here. There’s a sense of trying to create a new category and solve a big problem, but the culture is also super outcome-focused.?We’re not “hustling” or flailing for the sake of looking busy, but working to build a market changing sustainable company.?We take vacations, we block time with our families, and we still get tons of stuff done.?Building a category is a marathon and we’re focused on doing big things at a sustainable pace.

??

4.) The Market Need, and the Opportunity

With evolving privacy regulations, and consumers becoming less tolerant of data misuse, the need for comprehensive privacy solutions will only increase. We’re already seeing tectonic organizational shifts bringing user privacy to the forefront with roles like Chief Privacy Officer, and expanding ranks of Privacy Engineers springing up at even the most stolid organizations. Helping companies safeguard their customers’ and employees’ data is only going to become more important, and Skyflow is at the forefront in terms of both our current product and long term strategy.
