Why I joined RegScale

I have been at this game of cat and mouse for a long time in cybersecurity. I’ve watched the industry transition from network security to the landscape of security as code that we live in today. I have also watched the regulatory landscape grow across every sector and in every part of the globe, and that trend does not seem like it will stop anytime soon. Additionally, I have seen a number of cybersecurity companies come and go with claims of changing the landscape or the lives of practitioners when they were nothing more than lipstick on a pig. Or even worse, bad tech with great marketing that became either shelfware or bloatware in an organization and never having any real impact. So why join RegScale???
The entire industry of cybersecurity is shifting left. From DevOps to DevSecOps to SecOps, the industry is learning that to have any chance at thwarting the barrage of new attacks and vectors that threat actors present every day, we must think differently than we have. One of those new ways to think is allowing automation where we previously did not allow or did not have the capability. We have largely focused on SecOps today, but with the ever-growing changes in the regulatory landscape, it’s now time for this same automation to be enabled and allowed in via?a new discipline…Regulatory Operations (RegOps).??
Also, I have dipped my toes into the cybersecurity startup world by being an advisor to several companies. In my 25+ years, I have found that great technology can fail with poor leadership. In looking at RegScale, I see an organization poised to do what it says because the leaders have directly lived and experienced the problem we are trying to solve. From Anil Karmel , Travis Howerton , and Eric Erston as direct leaders, to Art Coviello, Jr and Jay Leek as indirect leaders, RegScale has the leadership in place to change the industry for the better as EVERYONE involved directly knows how bad the problem is from their direct experience.?

Add to all of this that I will get to do one of the things that I love more than anything else. And that is use my experience in this industry to bring people together for what I consider a movement. Something that will change both the regulators and the regulated in a way that is impactful and meaningful. As with my work through Cyversity, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the academic and professional success of Minority Cybersecurity students and professionals, I want the people that I interact with to learn from, and be better through, any engagement that they have with me. I’ve learned, since co-founding that organization that there is a big difference between something you are passionate about, and something that makes a difference. And this is a chance to actually make a difference.?
As a RegScaler, I will have the direct ability to help organizations scale the mountain of compliance and enjoy the benefits that modern technology brings to their employees, their regulators with which they engage, and their employee’s quality of life. I invite you all to join the RegOps Movement to Shift Left Compliance and realize the promise of real time GRC.?
