Why I joined Petavue. The rational and Irrational reasons.

Why I joined Petavue. The rational and Irrational reasons.

Here’s the TLDR update?— I have moved on from my role at FleetPanda and joined Petavue. I have 2 roles open in my team — (1) demand gen/growth marketing and (2) content marketing manager. More about these, as follows.

First things first, FleetPanda was nothing like anything else I have seen or done before and for that I am truly grateful. I am grateful for having Pavan as my boss. One of the most supportive CEOs/boss/very-decent human beings I have come across in my decade long SaaS marketing career. There are so many lessons that an unconventional industry can teach you, and I have written about it here and here in the past. 2 things — if you get to work in a vertical SaaS company, definitely take it up and if Pavan opens a role, whenever, take it (my guarantee).

Second things second,?

Don't you tell me what you think that I could be

I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh-ooh

The master of my sea, oh-ooh

I am sorry. It’s just my favourite Imagine Dragons song.

Anyhow, I have taken up a role at Petavue. What’s Petavue? Go look at the website and tell me if I did a good job with the copy and messaging.

For the lazy ones — Petavue is an agentic AI Data Analyst that is guided by humans in the loop.

What is agentic AI??

Heard about a time when you wanted to have a vacation or a trip, you would pick up the phone, call the travel agent, list down your requirements and wait for them to take care of the details. Schedules, modes, bookings, hotels, food recommendations, and everything else. You would approve the plan with action items laid out, and done. They will take care of all the activities.

And then came the OTAs — Online Travel Agencies. Working on lower prices and more independence. Ease of usage and better usability made all of us (including your annoying relatives) shift to online ticket bookings.

And now the agents are back, albeit in AI form. It will be soon enough that you will be asking one of these ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Perplexity or (Siri?) to recommend what to do in Madagascar, approve the plan with tickets, hotels, and the cost. And done. The agent will book everything as per schedule and needs, including that 5 minute brainstorm with the Penguins (watch the movie!).

Borrowed into the world of B2B, the human travel agents are the service companies and on-premise software. The OTAs are cloud-based SaaS. And the agentic AI…is still agentic AI.

So how does Petavue work then?

Petavue’s AI Data Analyst combines the speed and automation of AI with the? guidance of human analysts. Our AI data analyst processes vast datasets at lightning speed, generating reports and interactive drill-downs for in-depth exploration.?

Meanwhile, our human analysts ensure accuracy by validating KPIs, tailoring insights, and aligning those reports with your business goals.

Over time, the AI becomes more autonomous, delivering precise, context-aware insights with minimal human guidance.

Growth-stage SaaS companies rely on Petavue’s fully managed service to unify data, automate analysis, and deliver insights—without adding internal or external resources.

Here's how it works.

Why am I bullish on Petavue?

My irrational side is bullish on Petavue because I get to work with my friends from Insent again. Prasanna shifts gears and now is CEO. Ijas and Jeyraj are co-founders with him. And Samuel comes in, leading Revenue. That was reason enough for me to take the leap. But honestly, there were more. Many more.

The rational factors.

1. Space and the problem — Business Intelligence is a huge TAM (USD 30B+). And we are swinging for it. It terrifies you at first, and then you see the customers start to love what you have built and the nervousness begins to fade away. The BI stack is overly complicated. And it was fine pre-AI. Not anymore. Here’s what we have replaced for our early customers.

2. The product — I wanted to work in GenAI. It is objectively the biggest technological innovation I have seen in my life and I wanted to have courtside seats. At the same time, I wanted to go as deep as possible with the tech. AI isn’t a better way of solving existing problems. It is not a step function from existing software and stack. It is not the Hubspot to Salesforce. It is a fundamental shift. And I wanted to work with a product that felt like that. And Petavue does.

Working with Petavue is like chatting with a friendly analyst inside your company (who happens to be the smartest, and crazy fast at his job). Look at it, feels like magic!

I would have used the analogy of ChatPPT meets Business Intelligence. But I won’t. Because we compete with them and we won our biggest enterprise deal with us and them as the last runners.

3. The Role — I have been heading marketing for some time now. And I still love it. I think I have years of marketing left in me to get bored of it. However, the role at Petavue is more than that. I will be heading the marketing function and product implementation at the same time. How we think about the role is very different from all the SaaS playbooks of the past. Post-AI SaaS have to rethink how they communicate value and price themselves. Petavue believes in the Results as a Service or Outcomes as a Service model. Hence, there needs to be one central control center to make the promise of the outcome and deliver on it.

And that sits right with me. I believe building a brand is about making a promise and delivering on it. For however long you can. If you keep doing that, and then talk about it in the right places, your brand will keep getting stronger.

That wraps it up! All I ask is your best wishes, ideas for campaigns, warm intros to prospects, and some referrals for the below roles.

Here are the 2 roles I am hiring for:

1. Growth Marketing — Growth marketing for me is very simple. Someone who thinks about growth of the company without being constrained by the boundaries of marketing. Which is quite ironic, because the role is literally named Growth ‘Marketing’. The role will need deep understanding and expertise of all marketing channels, and then a certain level of comfort with a list of experiments, moving targets, and vague objectives. We have just kicked off, no one has it all figured out. Years of experience needed 3 to 6. The role is remote, however if you’re in Chennai or Bangalore, you get extra points.

2. Content Marketing — This role is a blend of brand + content. I don’t think we need to write SEO content post-AI. And even if we do, I am sure we can find a scalable way of doing it. This role is not about that. This role is for someone who can THINK. Think what content marketing really means in the post GenAI world. And given a blank slate with goals, what map would you draw for it (and execute, small team, remember?).? The KRAs on top of my mind are — running the webinar engine (operations of it), social media for the brand, founder branding, and product-aligned content. Years of experience for this role is 3 to 5.

Have fun!
