Why I invested In Shima's Startup

Shima's Notes: I may be one of the luckiest people on planet Earth. Throughout my life journey, I have endured the loss of my parents at a vulnerable age, the Genocide Against The Tutsi, and much more. What made my survival possible is my fighting spirit and the people I met along the way.

This article is a testimonial from a gentleman that I first connected with on LinkedIn. Today, He is my good friend, mentor and angel investor.

I initiated contact with Charles Shima through LinkedIn.? I had been reading his numerous posts about his company and about his goal to increase travel to countries on the continent of Africa.? He also posted about his early life in Rwanda, his love for his parents and his family (wife and twins), and his fraught, but successful effort to flee Rwanda, during the Genocide Against The Tutsi.??

He also posted videos of himself at conferences and business gatherings, which revealed his personality - honest, smart, sophisticated, and likeable.? With all of this information, I determined "I like this guy and what he is doing."

He posted he was going to come to Washington D.C., where I live, so I slid into his DMs, as the kids say and asked if he had time to meet while in Washington?? We met in a coffee shop in Washington's Chinatown.? I found Charles intense - and serious.? Serious about his company, Tourifique.? He talked about the need for a Black owned and operated travel company that could increase tourism to the African continent.? If you listen to him, he will make you see the beauty of Rwanda today, South Africa, Kenya.? I decided after that meeting I would become, what Charles calls, an "Angel Investor."? Not only am I? supporting Charles, but I also made a great investment.? I believe Tourifique will be a big success.? It is a smart investment.
