Why I have started REMOVING my Linkedin Connections!!!

Why? The simple answer is that I am not seeing the things which I wanted to.
But why suddenly now?
Your feed “mostly “consists of what your connections have shared or liked and some promotional stuffs too by Linkedin.
Now when I open my LinkedIn Account I am seeing less and less Business Insights, Solution advices, Interesting Facts, Technology news but what I am seeing is
- Regular updates which are religious or political in nature.
- Repetitive update about self-promotions (repetitive is the main problem)
- More and More “which drum will fill fast†posts or “guess the answerâ€
- Even People replying to “Tell me your name and I will tell you future†on public platform.
- And yes some profiles which I have added long back but still with all their work experience marked as “confidentialâ€. It’s a business networking platform, if I don’t know who you are till now why shall we be connected?
The list goes on..
I am not able to see people whom I intended to connect with. I couldn't see industry leaders, subject matter experts or even my peers.
Among the clutter of the updates of too many Connections, some of them posting every hour, it has become impossible to have visibility on what really matters.
So I think it’s better to “remove†rather than “hide updates†individually (provided by Linkedin) for the “repetitive†people. But it does not mean that I have stopped sending or accepting invitations NO, it’s just that I have just became very choosy!!
To all the members who keep on complaining its Linkedin is not Facebook you can simply remove or hide updates from that particular connection rather than repeatedly ranting it out in Public Forum.
I have heard many times in Recruitment/Search industry “your network is your net worth†but I interpret it as
Quality of your Network matters not the SIZE of it!!
