Why I Give...
Florida’s Space Coast has been home to me and my family for nearly seven years. In that time, I’ve seen substantial economic expansion and wealth-creation, as the area enjoys a revival of its namesake space industry and numerous companies have expanded operations here.
Harris has been headquartered in Brevard County for almost 40 years. As one of its largest employers, we depend on a strong, economically balanced and well-educated community to sustain our growth here.
But, as in much of America, it’s a divided economic picture. Many of our local residents have not participated in the upturn.
I take very seriously our long-standing commitment to making meaningful improvements in the communities where we work and live. Last year, Harris and its employees donated millions of dollars and contributed 63,000 employee hours to community programs, with a special emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
In recent years, I’ve joined Harris employees to kick off our largest campaign, benefiting Brevard County. It’s always inspiring to be in the room with hundreds of highly motivated Harris employees, packing meal kits for those in need.
It’s an exceptional privilege for me to lead an organization whose employees are playing a significant role in strengthening our communities. Great hearts make a great community.
