This Friday night, my family and I were celebrating my beautiful wife's birthday.

We were in my 2nd favorite town of Carefree, Arizona.

It's beautiful there. The Boulders Resort is there; however, I did not know of any restaurants for us to sit, eat and celebrate our Mama.

We finally went to "Steelers Country"

better known as Harold's Coral BBQ.

Our first experience as a family and the Food & service were terrific.

Question before we move forward?



"Has anyone heard of or know where the restaurant Harold's Coral BBQ is located?"(please leave a ?? if yes)


Me neither....

It was a word of mouth referral from the waitress at a completely different restaurant in beautiful Carefree,AZ.

The place we ended up eating and singing Happy Birthday was not our first choice! We did a little searching on Google beforehand, and Harold’s Coral BBQ was nowhere to be found.


We found a restaurant called Mountain View Pub.


It is a scenic backdrop and the hours said they served food until 10pm 7 days a week since 2017!

We arrive walk inside and a waitress informs us that the kitchen is closed as of 9pm?

I am puzzled, as I was the one who looked up their hours on Google.

?They were closed, no more food at 9pm.

BIRTHDAY OR NO BIRTHDAY?


On a Friday.?


I was my usual calm and Not at all Sarcastic self.... I said, "Ma’am, I pulled up the Google Maps, showed the waitress their Google listing, and said

"Your hours of business state your kitchen hours are 'Kitchen Open Til 10pm'!!,

(bolded) 7 days a week since 2017!

The waitress said, "Yeah, I mean who looks at the hours that closely?"

Then, we leave the restaurant that misrepresented themselves on the biggest and most used Search engine in the world.


But we did get a quality word of mouth referral for Harold's. Owner says, "Harold's BBQ is open and serves food until 12am, the bar is open til 2am" which, as you guessed, was not accurate on their business listing on Google??


I am not sure how I missed this restaurant; it smells so good. I am ready to enjoy the BBQ!


I said, "Would it make sense to show you something about your business and its ability to be found on Google.?"


"What do you mean?" The owner says a little anxious and frustrated!

(I shared the same story from above)


Owner says," Well I must get in touch with our marketing guy. He has all the access; we pay him a bunch of money to do all aspects of our online presence!"


I pause, then look down, then I look the owner in the eyes, "How about this, why don't we let your "guy" have Friday evening off and we can update them together right now, while your kitchen makes our yummy food?"

?She looked at me and said,

" You must be from New York?"


I did the ‘fake laugh' and of course me and both my boys are wearing NY Yankee Hats!

(it's a backhanded jab and I don't appreciate it)

However, I ask curiously,

" I'm sure you would not be opposed to being on the 1st page of Google and instead your business was not found until page 7! (Ouch)

It is simply because the business information must be current. No exceptions!!

MORE impactfully, the client reviews were amazing and Authentic!

I congratulated the reviews then asked, was that planned, or did they just show up with no prior notice? Hard plan a business around the unknown and unpredictable events! Both good and not so good!

Wouldn't you agree, that being Intentional & Deliberate has a real value to a business and its Revenue outcomes”?

?At Hibu, that type of word-of-mouth advertising we help share throughout the internet. We will always be appreciative and meaningful of W.OM. However, the ability to track and of course retargeted too is also Powerful and Profitable.

More importantly, it allows "The Google" to not to be misled or even becoming more & more distrusted & even frustrated with your business!

Google will not Trust your business and Not Show your business to their LOYAL 2.2 billion clients.


It has always been about the best end user experience for Google…. It is the Mantra!

So, I handed the owner my phone, did a quick search (so I was not a lair), then we logged into Google Maps, more importantly their business listing to make a few updates together.

?(Quick little info on me)

?I am a Level 8 Google guide.

I review businesses, take photos & even make edits when needed.

I have also successfully added over 444 new businesses or landmarks during my time, which started in 2014.

So, when the owner updated the hours properly and clicked save!!

The new, I mean corrected information, was visible to all ...

The owner could not believe that it was that simple.

I said," when you call your guy and then he travels to you or invests time on your business... What does that service cost you hourly?"

?I said, "wait don't tell me, (handed her a pen) right down for me please?"

Then I asked, “On average how many times has he actually done something on those meetings/calls that brought in new revenue?"


She said, “We normally have between 6 to 9 meetings or times we talk a month.

I said, "for the past 3 YEARS?"

She then, said "The hourly rate is $222 per hour.!"


?9 x $222 = $1,998 A Month??

6 x $222 =$1,332 A Month


?No trackable results that brought in Revenue?




I said, “all that time…???? ” The business owner then said, "If you look us up on Google we have 4.4 star rating with over 3144 reviews!!"


I followed with


"That is the reason my family and I are here tonight and the waitress!"


I mean, it's our 20-year anniversary on 10/04 and it's literally my wife's birthday today. And we are here.

I ask softly, (I lean in so only the owner, and I can hear)

"You own this place, yeah?"

"You have some easy, however mandatory mistakes within your online footprint."

"Do you want help? I'm offering!"

?The owner said "I have my 2 daughters working with our guy. I let them go home early!"

"They are my daughters! I'm a push over!"

I understand, I have my boys!

(food is so good) ...



I said, ,"I see, you don't have a mobile friendly website.

?or A Facebook page without a menu or customer reviews?"

●?????? (BBQ Pulled Pork and Grandma Meatballs so flippin good)

The owner says, "We have both and I don't believe that the $4,444 we spent with our? (marketing guy who works for an agency) actually provides any real value."


I was and still am befuddled and then pure excitement comes over me. I just heard how I'm going to get an opportunity to work with this business owner!


"Did anyone else pick up on it?"


"How long have you been investing?"

$53,328(quick math) dollars a year with your 'guy'(marketing agency) ... Owner says, "Are you ready, I believe it's been 3 yrs. "


It was silent for 44 seconds, then I said ...

  1. "Are there reports he shares?"
  2. "How do you know what works?"
  3. "Does he/she provide anyway to their efforts on your behalf?"
  4. "How does he measure results?"{I say this under my breathe, kinda}?


'3 years and $150,752 in business dollars

(all marketing expenses are deductible)

No trackable data that could show your ROI or even your online reputation'... 3,144 reviews?


I said.

"Do you know how many people left a 1-star rating because food was bad in some way?"


"How many said music too loud?"

Most customers said they loved the food and have gone back at least once a month for the past 2 plus years with the whole family.

10 people, at least once a month.

?Math is needed.

10 people dinner $900 x 12 mo = $10,800 per year.


How long has the new family them been coming? Since 2021.

2yr (x) $10,80 = $21,600

New Trackable Revenue

I kindly suggest,

" I have a thought and I wondered if you would be opposed??"


"What if I do the analysis for you and share the most glaring results or lack of results (don't know until research is completed), then come back to Harold's (2nd visit within 30 = 3.5 times in ROI)

we could look at some data together?"


Does that make sense?


"Then, I could show you a strategy to track, improve and become an expert at digital marketing yourself, or at least enough to be dangerous!"

"I mean 80% ROI within 8 months and 44% ROI within the first 44 days are real numbers that are achieved regularly by clients."


Here is where I thought I could have been better!


"And I am not asking for any money or commitment today? Right?"


(Then back to funny) I mean, maybe you could please confirm for me that you now understand 'That If you don't track results, then it didn't happen.'?? (Laughter ha-ha)

I say, confidently,


●?????? "How does next Sunday, after you close at 2pm?"? After your brunch service, that you do not market, is over…make sense?
