I find it extremely important to work toward the empowerment of all women, not because I am feminist or anti-man, but because I firmly believe that when women are empowered, they are more effective as the caregivers of mankind.
It's safe to say that all women fall into one or more of the following categories: mothers, wives, daughters, professionals, informal teachers, nurturers, and givers of life (and a host of other things). When women feel alone, incapable, bruised, and broken they are not beneficial to themselves, nor all of who they care for.
As women we have the natural ability to give of ourselves to others, than we do the giving of ourselves to ourselves... Therefore, we need others to feed us with positivity, with love, motivation, encouragement and empowerment. As a woman that falls in several of the above-mentioned categories; without the support of other women I sometimes feel alone. Not alone in my home or personal life, but alone in a world of male dominated industries. We as women are engulfed in a sea of men and unrealistic views of what women are and should be, and flooded with unhealthy competition amongst other women attempting to conform to stereotypical media standards.
With that, I find it extremely important to uplift my sisters, whether housewife or CEO. As women we have unique needs that only we can understand. Healthy competition can be a great thing, but love and support is greater. So, I will continue to do my part in sending the elevator back down for women in need, riding side-by-side with my colleagues, and reaching my hand up to the women I admire. Join me in women's empowerment!
